CABINET NOTES:

The Minister of Health reported that two successful kidney transplants were conducted at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center (SLBMC) on Monday and Tuesday, February 6 and 7, 2023.

He pointed out that there could have been more transplants but that donors do not come forward.

The Minister urged family and friends whose siblings and loved-ones are presently on dialysis, to step forward as donors.

Since the SLBMC has now exceeded 10 transplants, the hospital is encouraged to sell the service to OECS countries without the expertise.

The Cabinet took a decision to grow thousands of plants for decoration along the highways of Antigua and of Barbuda.

  1. There we go again, making the right step and moving in the right direction climbing up to a higher level. Thanks to the Gaston Browne’s administration.
On the other hand more nurses, more doctors & more orderlies are needed. The present staff is overworked. They also need to get more perks. The unions need to look into their interest also

  2. Kudos to SIR MOLWYN M. JOSEPH and the Ministry of Health

    • Molwyn min in the operating room fu 6hrs?
Look, whether that minister was there or not, the transplant team would exist thanks to the doctors at mount st.johns!
God alone can take the praise for guiding the hands of the surgeons and transplant specialist

  3. When the country has achievements such as these the UPP and their cronies are deaf and dumb. They pretend not to have heard or seen anything. Like nothing ever happened. Because they only wish bad for the country. Then they say they love the country. Well if you love the country be happy for the achievement the country makes, whether or not you are in power.

  4. This is about Government POLICIES and VISION! Congrats to the Gaston Browne administration

If it was 10 deaths, you would be blaming Gaston Browne. So give jack his jacket!

    • So true. As I said, when it comes to any achievement, they claim not to want to give the government praise. If the hospital doesn’t have toilet paper, they blame the government. That is the set of hypocrites that they are.
The reason we now have all these types of surgeries being done in Antigua is because of the government making funds and people available. Under the UPP the hospital was lacking basic medications and all the equipment was malfunctioning.
