A Hurricane Watch has once again been issued for Antigua and Barbuda as Jose, now a Category 1 hurricane, continues to strengthen.

A Tropical Storm Watch is also in effect for Anguilla, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saba and St. Eustatius.

At 11:00 a.m. Hurricane Jose was located near 14.9°N, 50.6°W and is moving towards the west-northwest at 30 km/h.

Maximum sustained winds are near 150 km/h and strengthening is forecasted during the next 48 hours.

Some Leeward Islands may experience as much as 10 inches of rain. This rainfall will maintain any ongoing flooding and may cause additional life-threatening flooding.

Swells generated by Jose are likely to affect portions of the Leeward Islands by Saturday. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
