Browne Rejects ‘Gloating,’ Urges Unity and Greater Productivity After Decisive Victory
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called for national unity and renewed economic effort following the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s (ABLP) commanding general election victory, urging supporters to avoid gloating and instead focus on building the country.
Addressing supporters after the results, Browne struck a statesmanlike tone, cautioning against triumphalism despite securing a fourth consecutive term in office.
“This is not a time for gloating,” Browne said, urging party supporters to remain grounded in the aftermath of the landslide win.

He stressed that the election result should serve as an opportunity to unify the country rather than deepen divisions.
“We must remain united as a people… this victory is about building Antigua and Barbuda for everyone,” he said.
The ABLP secured 15 of the 17 seats in Parliament, delivering one of the most decisive outcomes in the country’s modern political history and giving Browne a strong mandate heading into his new term.
Beyond the call for unity, Browne used the moment to emphasize that national progress will depend not only on government action but also on the productivity and participation of citizens.
He urged Antiguans and Barbudans to take advantage of opportunities available to them, noting that economic growth requires a shared commitment between the state and the population.
“We have to become more productive as a people… we have to seize the opportunities that are available,” Browne said, highlighting what he described as a shift toward greater individual responsibility in national development.
The Prime Minister indicated that his administration will continue to pursue policies aimed at economic expansion, infrastructure development, and job creation, but made clear that citizens must also play an active role in driving progress.
He added that the government’s agenda for the new term will focus on inclusive growth, ensuring that development reaches communities across the country regardless of political affiliation.
“No one will be left behind,” Browne said, reinforcing his message of unity and shared national purpose.
Browne’s remarks mark a transition from campaign rhetoric to governance, as he prepares to begin another term backed by a commanding parliamentary majority and a renewed mandate from voters.

Heartiest congratulations to the ABLP on a resounding victory. I hope they understand the enormity of the responsibility that is placed upon them. Politicians are like actors. Once the lights are on, everything they do comes under the spotlight.
Looking forward for growth and more job creation so the Social Security intake will increase, and we the pensioners can get a raise while cost of living rises.
Don’t worry, cost of living will not rise, Prime Minister Gaston Browne assured that he and his government will improve people’s lives instead.
It’s a day of celebration!
When a party has complete unfettered access to our tax dollars and the treasury, the outcome is no surprise. I am surprised they didn’t also get All Saints West. Everywhere I went around the island I saw ABLP campaign ads along the road side, on the utility poles and anywhere they could put it.
The ABLP needs to be transparent to the people where they got the funds to finance their campaign.
The next issue is blatant bribery. All the “donations” of toys to the little kids, the microwaves and other kitchen applicances, the food items like turkeys and hams, the “free” gas, “free” concerts and the money to join their motorcade should never be permitted. That is influencing people for their votes.
Citizens need to be educated their vote weighs a lot more than all the “free” stuff ABLP was giving to them. Citizens need to be educated that it is the goverment than works for us. Our goverment represent us and our country on the international world stage. Our vote is extrememly more valuable to them staying in power than all the “free” stuff they gave away to buy your vote. They don’t work for us, they only practice creative self enrichment.
Going forward, when you still can’t collect your cheque and on the back pay list forever don’t compain, you voted them back in again. When the roads only fix just before elections and mashing up your vehicle in the meantime and have to pay for the parts and repairs, you voted them back in. On the world stage, when you can’t get a visa to visit certain countries whether for business, family or medical, remember you voted them in. When you try to go green and rely less on fossil fuel, yet the goverment makes it difficult to do so (all while attending green summits), you voted them back in.
Look at the long term effects on our people and our country. If it only benefits them and their pockets and not our nation, then they have no business representing us. No party that practices creative self enrichment should ever run our country.
Vote wisely, always.
Voting wisely means you’re wise, and you’re guided by wisdom.
Wisdom always sees one’s potential and willingness of knowing/being/doing better.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne doesn’t need to use ‘free stuff to win his people (they love him), he only does that because he’s generous.
