Dear Dr. Belle
First, let me extend congratulations to you for the prestigious elevation that has been bestowed upon you.
I have listened to many of your interviews conducted on the electronic media, and I must admit that I am impressed with the depth of your medical knowledge, your eloquence & fluency and the character you display of caring and showing empathy for your patients especially the children.
Now Doc, as you are now the new Director of the nation’s lone public hospital, I chose to address you, rather than addressing the minister of health, because unlike you, I think the minister does not have that intimate relationship with the operations of the hospital.
A healthy nation has always been advocated as a wealthy nation!
Therefore, as an Antiguan who wants to see the best for our country especially the health of our nation, I think it is only prudent of me to ask you the following questions, since from my vantage point, it seems to me that our healthcare system is falling apart.
1. Don’t you think that our country should be equipped with more polyclinics which should be open around the clock?
2. Don’t you think that some of the nurses and junior doctors who are seeking employment, can be utilized as medical administrators or technicians at the present clinics under the supervision of a Sr. Doctor ?
3. Don’t you think that it is full time for the turnaround time to see a doctor in the ER dept be improved?
4. Don’t you think that the doctors at the hospital are overburden, hence additional manpower is needed?
5. Don’t you think that the time has come that a relative of a critical ill patient should be given the privilege to stay with their love one after visiting hours to assist with the patient’s care?
6. Don’t you think that a trust fund should be in place to specifically furnish the hospital liquid soap along with bed linen such as sheets & pillows within the wards?
7. Don’t you think doctors who are scheduled to work 24 hr shifts are proned to making errors hence their shifts should not be no more than 12 hrs?
8. Don’t you think that there something is wrong within the system why many nurses & doctors are becoming frustrated with our health care system?
9. Dont you think that there should be a proper accountability system where patients can file reports for the poor treatment they have received from the medics?
10. Dont you think that a system should be in place for patients who have a critical condition such asthma, sickle cell, gastrointestinal and cardiac conditions, be given an ID card, so upon arrival at the ER dept, they can be clearly identified to get immediate attention?
11. Dont you think that doctors and nurses should immediately be summoned to a tribunal when they are found to be irresponsible or have created some grave errors during their practice?

Very interesting! These are really some pertinent questions
Please,
Shivon needs to stick to pediatric medicine
NOTHING is going to change as she is jumping to molwyn’s beat
you are a useless, evil, JEALOUS HATER!!!!!
frankly, no matter how many clinics or staff, if mbs doesnt have systems of accountability in place, its just more money going to the rent for cubans, middlemen sourcing equipment and more square pegs
None of these suggested questions are new or unique but nothing can happen until first we have a new, younger and health driven Minister with a plan..Then we need a government that gives a damn. Next we need to pay our nurses and health care workers properly. Start there and the rest will follow.
