(Dashboard Update for August 23, 2021)
The most recent report received by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Sir Lester Bird Mount St. John Medical Centre has revealed fifty (50) new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda as of Saturday 21st August 2021 at 6pm.
Thirty (30) of these cases were recorded on August 20th and twenty (20) on August 21st.
The Epidemiology Unit is still in the process of ascertaining whether the cases are imported or non-imported. Once the information is verified, it will be published in a subsequent publication.
Two hundred and ninety-seven (297) samples were processed at Sir Lester Bird MSJMC.
Fourteen (14) recovered cases were recorded increasing the total to one thousand three hundred and thirteen (1313).
Consequently, the total number of persons with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is one thousand five hundred and forty (1540); which is inclusive of one hundred and eighty-five (185) active cases. There are eighteen (18) hospitalized cases; eleven (11) mild, four (4) moderate and three (3) severe.
Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda has fully vaccinated thirty two thousand eight hundred and sixteen (32,816) individuals while six thousand six hundred and fifty (6,650) have only received their first dose.
The dashboard has been updated to reflect these changes.

Antigua is blowing up with Covid cases. Why there is not one Caribbean Leader speaking about it. Like those in Antigua did. When other Caribbean Nations had their issues with elevated Covid-19 cases. When you spit into the air. It would fall back into your faces. Whether you decided to take the Vaccines or not.Those choices are yours to make. Wear your masks in crowded areas,wash your hands at all times. Be safe and take care.

I hope the Ministry of Health is on top of their contact tracing and they can present some information as to where all these cases originate. They were quick to say that the 18 police cases came from the August 8 protest. I wonder how many came from the congested VC Bird Airport.
Man for a lawyer you can sure chat some real shit. It comments like this makes confrim that you and your party are playing politics with the August 8 incident. There are some big difference between the arrivals at the airport and August 8. If you would pay attention to the news and not trolling the other comment maker on this blog you would see the virus is spreading not only on Antigua but all over the blasted world. JB the government with its PR machinery cannot mount a sensible and compelling campaign to convince people to take the vaccine. Where does politics come into my comment. I think that it was utterly ridiculous for the government to have insinuated that the 18 police officers who recently contracted covid got it as a result of the protest on 8 August. It is such outright stupidity that I am against and if you cannot see the stupidity then you need help. And by the way, an airport arrivals lounge is a place where many people congregate. If proper protocols are not followed, isn’t that location a place that the virus could easily be transmitted? My dear Sir not everything is politics for me. I apply reason to any situation and try to be as objective as possible.
Dude you are sound really dunce right now but then again give how anything the government does you will oppose I’m not surprised. I suggest that you spend less time on ANR and go pay attention to what’s happening all over the world and encourage folks to vaccinated to include your two client who actually gave you a reason to go to court.

How many cases before the government and their business masters lockdown? 100/day? 500/day? We know they want to stay open for their profits, but the government must lockdown and provide a living wage to all workers affected and full support to small business. Where the hell are the unions when they are needed?

Ital, I have to agree with you that containing this covid needs all on deck. Should Antigua and Barbuda vote for a change of government tomorrow, covid will not just disappear. I was personally critical of PM Browne for not having a public showing of his vaccination. The truth is every politician contesting the election should have had that public showing which would have helped the confidence of everyone. I’m here in the US on the frontline. Antigua has not seen anything yet with this new Delta variant. Truth be told, it’s the unvaccinated we are placing on life support and oxygen devices in much greater numbers. It’s no time for playing political games.
Being vaccinated doesn’t prevent people from contracting covid. It reduces the severity of the disease but it does not prevent the spread of it. So vaccinated or not we cannot drop our guards.
