
Festival’s Minister Daryll Mathew expressed satisfaction with the high level of youth participation in this year’s carnival, which began on Thursday with the Opening of Carnival.
“The upcoming week is where all the action happens. Our youngsters are performing well, and the music has been excellent. I’m pleased to see many new young bands and massive registration numbers from mass groups,” he said.

Mathew also hoped for good weather and a trouble-free carnival.
Events continued Sunday with the West Indies Oil Company Junior Carnival and the Junior Calypso Monarch. Upcoming activities include the E.C.A. Bank’s Mr. and Ms. Teenage Pageant on Monday, Drue’s Day on July 30, Jaycees Queen Show on July 31, and Emancipation Day watchnight service and Melting Pot on August 1.
Other events feature the Cavalier Rum Calypso Monarch, State Insurance Panorama, APUA Inet Party Monarch, J’Ouvert, and Last Lap celebrations.
