A team of representatives from the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC), is currently on the sister island, Barbuda, as work begins to relocate the Barbuda Registration Unit.

Since the passage of Hurricane Irma in September 2017, which devastated the island, the Unit has been located at the Central Registration facility on Factory Road.

Efforts have been ongoing to ensure that the facility is relocated and the Commission is pleased that these plans are finally coming to fruition.

The Commission will subsequently keep the public informed on the completion of the work as well as the official operational date for Registration.

  1. This has to be a big joke. Can you imagine the Electoral Commission taking over 3 years to find a suitable place in Barbuda to facilitate the registration of voters in Barbuda. Shame! shame! shame! and a serious dereliction of duty.
