Woman Sentenced for “Love Triangle” Knife Attack

A woman was placed on probation for three years and ordered to pay compensation of $5000 for injuring her rival in an apparent love triangle squabble.

Melissa Edwards pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding admitting she slashed a woman across her face with a knife.

The incident happened outside Caribbean Cinemas in June of 2014.

The injured woman had been in a relationship with a man for several years.

At some point in the relationship, the man also became involved with Edwards, who got pregnant and had a child.

On the day of the incident, the women were standing in line at the cinema getting food, while the man was sitting nearby.

The court heard, Edwards went over to him, grabbed his phone and ran outside.

When the man and the complainant ran after her, Edwards went to a vehicle and returned with a long knife, which she used to injure the complainant.

The victim managed to get the knife away from her attacker and after discarding it, a fist fight began.

The women were separated, and an ambulance was called to take the complainant to hospital for the wound, which bled profusely.

  1. No dear. You NEVER attack the other woman. Both of you gang up on the POS and kick him to the curb.

    “Players only play themselves”

  2. My beef is that this case has taken 5 years to come up; that’s too long for some one to be waiting to learn their fate…something really needs to be done!

  3. Why didn’t she slash his face? He is the one she should have the drama with..As a Woman ,to other Women-You should never have to fight for Love,it cannot be forced or bought for a price..

  4. Probation and 5000?
Whatever the provocation, 5000 won’t come anywhere near restoring that woman’s face
.But who cares, just some crazy girl who got messed up right?

    Wasn’t your daughter.

  5. If it was a man who did this, he would have been sent away for 10 years in prison for attempted murder. Since it is a woman, she only gets a slap on the wrist with probation – what a joke!

Women deserve to go prison just as much as men do for the same crime. The Antigua courts have a very bad habit in recent years of treating men worse than women when it comes to prison sentences and punishment.

Discrimination against our Antigua men must stop now!
