Around 4:30pm on May 15th, a distressing incident unfolded involving a woman who fell victim to an assault by five armed young men.
The incident occurred as she was making her way home along the vicinity of Abbott’s Farm Rd and Epicurean Drive, situated off Friars Hill Rd.
It is important to note that she did not possess any valuable belongings at the time. Alarming as it may sound, two of the assailants forcefully took her into the nearby bushes and subjected her to a horrifying act of rape.
During this dreadful ordeal, the woman’s daughter, who happened to be walking some distance behind her mother, noticed her handbag discarded on the ground near the roadside and let out a piercing scream.
Responding to the cry for help, a group of men working on a nearby farm rushed to the aid of the distressed women.
Although it took approximately thirty minutes for the ambulance to arrive, the situation remained dire.
Additionally, repeated calls were made to 911, and it took roughly an hour for the police to finally arrive at the scene.
The repercussions of this incident have left lives severely traumatized today.

If it was drugs the police would have been there much quicker, I’m so sorry for that lady my heart goes out for her but we’re in a situation in this country that is so serious, neither men or women are safe , we can’t feel safe to walk or or drive and the perpetrators are out there roaming freely, please help us Lord.
Lord help us indeed I pray that these men will be stopped in their tracks Lord please hear our prayer.
Antigua’s crime rate continues to explode with young men behind this criminality. I have little doubt the criminals are bastard son’s of single mums and/or worthless parents who are unstable themselves.
I have observed the family structure continues to degrade while, family structure for Asian, Middle-easterners (Syrians) and Whites in Antigua are much more stable and reflective of their owning businesses.
I hope the victim recovers and gets therapy but, will suffer from trauma from these sick animals who feel emboldened to continue their criminal lifestyle because the legal system is perceived as a bloody joke as reflected by the response of the police and ambulance to respond to her assault.
What is wrong with single mothers? Not every culture is meant to have a stable family structure. The majority of Antiguan women are strong and independent so they don’t need to be in a nuclear or extended family unit. Also the government, churches and other organizations are there to help single mothers especially if they have young kids. As far as I’m aware no child has ever died from starvation in Antigua. Many children I see around Antigua wear expensive name brand clothing, shoes and jewelry.
Blame the crime rate on the government as they have responsibility for national security.
@Bilbo from All Saints…giving credit where in my opinion, credit is due. You’re correct.
Sometimes, I think that your “comments” are meant to fuck with ANR readers!
Jumbee_Picknee aka Ras Smood
The family structure does plays a major role in how children behave. Nobody goes to church these days which is very sad.
Are you f*cking kidding me!!! What kind of sickness is plaguing this country?!

Sickening and disgusting.
You evil men will PAY BIG TIME FOR YOUR CRIME.
You may think that you have escaped but rest assured, my friends: Your day of reckoning is soon to come. You EVIL VISCOUS SOULS.
You allow demons to control you and commit terrible acts.
Woe be unto you. EVIL! WICKED! CRIMINALS!
It is just disgraceful now how these thugs go around assaulting people.
Your day will come, my friends. IT IS GAURANTEED! JUDGMENT WILL CALL and you will face that day. Be prepared for your end.
WOE ! WOE! WOE ! Be unto you.
WORLD “CRYSIS”: YOUR DAY SOON COME!
there are so many things that are wildly disturbing about this story. a woman was gang-raped in broad daylight, there were no authorities in the area and they chose not to respond or show up for an hour?! her life and her daughter’s life were in serious danger. this is how we protect our people? sexual assault leaves deep trauma on the survivor and the survivor’s family. these people need to caught and made an example of. this has no place in our society. we deserve better. there needs to be an inquiry about what is happening at the 911 switchboard, the ambulance service and most definitely at that horrid police station for all the ways they let these poor ladies down.
I’m at a loss as well @ sickening times, as to what’s happening to the country that I love and adore.
Antigua is degenerating into utter chaos it seems.
We are now begging for a response from our government as to what they are going to do to stem this tidal wave of criminality.
It seems like the yout’ dem ah turn feral.
I COULD BAWL …
I agree 💯 with you! Broad daylight? My heart goes out to the lady and her family! Just sickening now! Smh
The police drag them foot with things they deam unimportant. My daughter got rape by a few young men. And all they could say is we got one but the others we cant find. They are minors. The rape kit wont go far government have no money to send away. It gets worst.
I pray the victim gets the medical aid she requires rapidly and both her and her family are provided with counselling. This is very disturbing. These acts are happening all times of the day and I don’t understand how the police can not gain some level of control on these crimes up to now.
I have a daughter who attends school in town and she REFUSES to catch the school bus because you have nasty men who leave their shack early in the mornings to park their vehicles along walking paths to school to brazenly masturbate using these minors as sex symbols.
The police needs to get g the crime rate in this country in order NOW! You go to police stations and many times they’re just there lazing around the place. WORK DEY FU DO!
It’s time to up the penalty for .
Rape
Rape with weapon
Rape of a minor
Same sex rape
Lie detectors for victims and convicts of rape. Just to make sure that when we throw the key. We would have 1)satisfied a jury and 2) screened both sides.
Maybe we should have a small prison for rapists and carnival time chain them up hands and legs and take them to the march thru town. For alllllll to see.
It’s time for a sex offenders registry. Dunno what some ministers are waiting for.
Next Level menaces to society. Good citizens are going to have to take matters in their own hands — We should NOT allow these criminal elements to reduce Antigua to a ZOO. It is clear, that law enforcement is incapable of eradicating the scourges; and, it is unclear, if the government has any real solutions. Time to mobilize a civilian army; because, a war on women have been declared in this country — I’m calling on MEN who cherishes their mothers, wive’s, daughters, sisters, nieces, female cousins/friends, etcetera open your eyes and realise they are no longer safe in Antigua.

Charles Brandson’s “Death Wish” is going to happen in Antigua if justice continues to fail.
“… it is clear that, law enforcement is incapable of eradicating the scourges; and, it is unclear, if the government has any real solutions …”
Sad, but true @ This Needs To End.
Also, the disrespectful treatment of ALL women has stop. Forthwith!
Ah Gaston Browne fault. He tell them fu do um and tell the police and ambulance tek them time. Gaston Browne ah fu u fault!!!
@ Ah Gaston Browne Fault
Yes. He is to be blamed. He should bear all responsibility for the high crime rate because when they were in opposition they used to kick up and blame the UPP for any crime committed.
Really?? If u go reply u could not get ya own monkier. Oh yeah ah Gaston Browne fault u can’t be original!!! Gaston Browne once again ah fu u fault!!
As crime spirals out of control and with the embarrassment in parliament, the Alpha Nero, among others, Cutie Benjamin needs to do the honorable (although there is nothing honorable about the man) and either resign or be fired. He is silent as his incompetence continues to manifest itself. He had a lot to say when UPP was the government, calling for a plan. Where is he now?
Horrible situation but not surprising. There is a foul POS that hides in the bush at Runaway Beach and Jerks off to the ladies in their swim gear.
Police have been informed many times and nothing gets done about it.
Time for Vigilante justice, citizens should have the right to uphold the law if the police can’t.
This is not a prediction that I made just 3 yrs ago, I was in Antigua coming from the states on the first American flight out of Miami when Antigua finally opened for entry after the world locked down because of covid. During this visit I was dismayed and very alarmed by the body language and demeanor of many of the good jovial people of Antigua, it was like the souls of many of the young people were sucked out of them, you can see it in their eyes, you can see it in their energy aimlessly just existing. I didn’t predict this crime wave in Antigua back then, no need to, it was right in front of you, it was coming, and there was nothing that I could’ve told some of these young men that I encountered that would’ve deterred there desperation for help and a way out of the audios journey that was in front of them to get their lives back to normalcy. This was coming people, no doubt about it, and is the responsibility of every government to persuade the psychological and social-ecomical standards of their people. You can’t just simple sit there and say ‘ oh these young men are just lazy and worthless’ it’s the governments job to deter such actions as what is happening across Antigua for crying out loud!!!. If I was just a native returning home and see this coming, then every elected and persons in hired positions that are responsible for civil control did see this as well. I have have been back to Antigua an additional for times since that first ‘covid flight’ back in 2020, and I can tell every Antiguan this, that look in the eye has gotten even darker and even more vile, a lot of these young men souls have been literally sucked out of them. Call it end of days or whatever you’ll want to call it, but this could have been avoided, the same way every government had to cope with the very same desperation of its citizens and were asked upon for answers. I live in Florida with 24mil people, and our governor had that very same burden of responsibility and met it with grace and the power that was given to them, why not this small island and it’s government couldn’t meet the challenge? Food for thought.

Have to LOL whenever I hear say some police call themselves detectives. They should go and watch Law & Order, Sherlock Holmes, Matlock etc to understand the meaning of detective. Sorry police officers, don’t mean to bash you but pull up ya socks jack.
Police need to step up patrols night and day in vehicles, on foot, on bicycle, on motorcycles, on horseback, patrolling city, countryside beaches, in plain clothes and in regular uniform. If there were more patrols, criminals would not be so brazen especially in the day. Citizens could also form units and patrol, but not to confront – to take pictures, videos, and call for help. Also No money is not an excuse not to send rape kits away. Perhaps the family or donors would help to pay, although they shouldn’t have to.
We the public love to get outraged about these things, but what is actually done?
Hopefully, it’s just the same young men responsible for the recent spare of crimes and once they are caught things will calm down again. If it’s not the same people then we need to implement right now youth intervention programmes in every community. Number 1, churches need to get serious with their youth groups and programmes. Invite young people to hear the word at crusades to align their lives with God’s good principles, participate in meaningful activities and regular community service. Spend less time judging every minor thing and more time supporting them in becoming better people with good relationships with each other and society. Secondly, other social groups e.g. charities need to do similar, recruit young people and give them an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to society. Thirdly, someone needs to go into business to provide options for good clean fun for young people. Finally, education and job pathways need to be clear and accessible to young people and life (food, clothing, housing) needs to be made more affordable for the average person so they are not tempted into a life of social destruction and crime. Just my two cents.
How can a woman protect herself against five men?!!!!!!
I need someone in authority to answer this question please.
This is a sad state. I feel bad for this woman. My dear, use what they left on you and damage dem backside. Remember the ones who killed the gas station attendant? One went crazy, one killed himself, one took seven years to be buried.
Children and older Youth need to spend more time with their families. This spate of crimes by young men seems like a desperate cry for attention. Society needs more wholesome activities and venues that families can enjoy together and build stronger bonds.
So white collar crime is a result of bad parenting too? Not throwing dirt on anyone but sir Allen Stanford was a victim of bad parenting I remember quite vividly he went to jail for a series of crime so should we blame that on bad parents?
I use him because most of us if not all are aware of his story knowing that he was a savior to Antigua.
Jj White collar crime is obviously different than crime that involves physical confrontation. Yes, white collar crime affects people’s lives too because it affects their finances. But, physical crime is much more traumatic. However many years Stanford received should be doubled for these boys/men. Most people who love their family and friends and have good and proper relationships with them would never dream of hurting them or strangers physically. It’s not necessarily the parents’ fault. The whole society makes it hard for parents to properly influence their children. Society needs to do more to support family life.
It is so sad to know that it’s young men doing these things. What is wrong with these children these days? Is it all they know how to do? Be bad? Where are the parents to instill good morals? These children are too broken at such tender ages these days, it’s is sad!!!!!!
The police head needs to be dragged in front of the media and explain how come they have no leads in any of these robberies going on. And if possible, they need to get fired for doing such a poor job. Yes, I know that police cannot be everywhere and need the public’s help to solve crime. But tell me what you are doing. When last, the police put out a reward to the public for their assistance in solving a crime? These are things investigating departments do. Are the police in Antigua going “undercover” in the various communities to get information as to who are the likely criminals? or do they have people they can count on that will tip them off? The Antigua and Barbuda Police Force look like they just sit behind their desk and hope crime will solve itself. Meanwhile the citizens are getting increasingly placed in fear by these criminals. When I saw a clip of a robbery in a supermarket, the manner which the chap held the gun tells me he certainly has not training in shooting a gun. He just has it from the movies. These criminals therefore are not trained in the use of guns. That should tell the police a lot about where to look.
National that have returned home from the USA after having done their time. They are not willing to start their life on a good foot. Getting a job and making an honest living. We Antiguans know who they are. Our brother, nephew and our neighbor. The “indigenous” Antiguan man likes to work hard for his money. The police can and should do some profiling and understand where to look. They should have kept a database of all that were sent back from the USA because of crimes committed over there. They come back home and continue in the very same manner. And they should bring in many of them for questioning. One will spill the bean and give you a lead. The police have the right to bring you in for questioning. And they should establish a working relationship with the USA on criminals that are being deported. Exchange of information should be the norm. We should know who it is that is coming back into our society to live. The information should remain confidential.
Stop beating around the bush people and facts the facts. The black man has a problem..I repeat again, other races of people live here, in other Caribbean countries. How or why isn’t this their problem? EBRY corner in Antigua has the white man’s church, yet hundreds of out of wedlock kids, some of them having no relationship with father’s, or maybe have three or four half siblings, step fparents – a broken down family structure. Black politicians and leaders fail their citizens..Years ago, there were so many social programs introduced to keep youths gainfully employed. Who stopped them? When politicians can openly brag and boast about skulduggery, who is there for the impressionable unguided neargah to look up to?? Seven o’clock in the morning, you see them readeyed, saggy pants,
weed smoking zombies, by the roadside, idle, lost. I don’t see no chiney, white or Syrian male like that. Who teaches them our history? Respect for themselves? Their women folk? What does black lives matter mean to them? Did any parent with a questionable child asked about this incident? Would be willing to turn them in? I am mad as hell and I pray to my ancestors for justice.
