Woman, 59, dies after contracting COVID-19

Dr. Albert Duncan, SLBMC Medical Director said:

 

We can confirm that sadly, a female patient, age 59, who had underlying health conditions, has passed away at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre on September 8 (today), at 3pm.

 

She had tested positive for COVID-19.

 

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Important safety measures that have been scientifically-proven to reduce the spread of COVID-19, includes:

 

Wearing a mask

Practicing social distancing

Avoiding large gatherings

 

SLBMC encourages all eligible residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine when it is available and encourage eligible family members and friends to join them in getting the vaccine.

 

The media are asked to respect the wishes of the family, and the interests of staff at the hospital to avoid any disruption to operational services.

  1. At what point will it be enough and to start enacting real policies which will curb the virus spread? Vaccinated or unvaccinated, the virus is still a threat on this island and the government doesn’t seem too concerned?

  2. look they don’t even test you. My family and I were feeling sick last Saturday night we call the hotline the woman answer then said to me go get tested on Monday. I just laugh cause that can’t be real. Am telling you there is more than made to believe if that’s the way it’s done, x 10.
