WISH Statement on the Passing of Delroy Victor
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, February 26, 2025 — WISH is deeply saddened by the passing of Delroy Victor, who was found at his home on Jonas Road earlier today. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. Losing someone in such a heartbreaking manner is a painful reminder of the urgent need to continue open conversations about mental health and suicide prevention in our community.
At WISH, we are committed to breaking the silence and stigma surrounding mental health struggles. No one should have to battle their thoughts alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out—whether to a trusted friend, family member, or a mental health professional. Support is available, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
We recognize that Antigua and Barbuda does not yet have a dedicated suicide prevention hotline, but there are trained professionals ready to offer guidance and support. If you are feeling overwhelmed, please speak with a doctor, therapist, or counselor. There is hope, and help is within reach.
To those grieving this loss, we urge you to lean on your support systems and take care of your mental well-being. You are not alone, and there is a community that cares for you.
Let us all take this moment to reaffirm our commitment to mental health awareness and to being there for one another. If you need help, please don’t hesitate to ask for it. You are valued, you are loved, and your life matters.

All the big talk about Mental Health so long in coming this needs yo be a priority these are the things citizens must demand and the government needs to out the actors in place to get this done immediately talk is cheap and the people and family that needs help are still waiting
Such a heartbreaking loss. It’s so important that we continue to talk about mental health in our community. Many people suffer in silence, and we need to break that stigma.
completely agree with the statement about seeking help being a sign of strength. Too often, people feel like they need to handle everything on their own, but it’s okay to ask for help.
My heart goes out to Delroy’s family.
Oh, how utterly tragic, darling. Delroy Victor’s passing is a stark reminder of the unspoken battles so many face. It truly is heartbreaking, and yet, how commendable that WISH is taking such a courageous stand, shining a light on the importance of mental health. One mustn’t suffer in silence, no? The stigma surrounding it simply must be broken, for everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, and loved. A bit of kindness and an open ear go a long way, don’t you think? Let us all remember that help is but a conversation away.
Let’s all do our part to support those who may be struggling and show them they’re not alone.
So sad to hear about Delroy Victor. I hope his passing sparks more conversations around mental health in Antigua and Barbuda. We need to continue working to create a culture where people feel safe to talk about their struggles

Condolences to his family and loved ones. I could only imagine the pain his family is going through at this time.

I agreed with the article seeking help is not a sign of weakness. I knew of someone who wanted to throw herself off a building, but because of telling someone of her plans that person was able to talk with her. Today she’s still with us .
Where was WISH when the guy was alive. ALL TALK AS USUAL
I am hearing that he tried to commit suicide a day or two ago by drinking an agriculture pesticide. That he was treated and was supposed to return to the Dr. Today. That when his friend went to take him, he had already taken his life by hanging himself.
Probably if someone is bent on taking his or her life, there is probably nothing that no one can do to stop them. However there are those that can be persuaded not to do so.
Lastly isn’t attempt suicide is an offense that should be reported to the police. That certain psychiatric evaluation must be done and that the police will keep the person under their watch.
