UNAUTHORIZED SALE OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda – November 28, 2024

The West Indies Oil Company Limited (WIOC) reminds the public that it is the sole authorized supplier of petroleum fuels in Antigua and Barbuda, except for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

WIOC ensures that all its petroleum products are rigorously tested and certified to meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

We have been made aware that an unauthorized entity is offering petroleum products for sale.

We advise all individuals and businesses that purchasing or selling petroleum fuels (excluding LNG) from any entity other than WIOC is illegal and will be subject to prosecution under the laws of Antigua and Barbuda.

WIOC remains fully committed to meeting the fuel needs of the nation.

  1. Seems like WIOC is concerned about competition

The other entity should sell their product legally, anything short is that, they should be prosecuted, however I believe in fair competition. The consumer can benefit from competition

    • You saying wioc behaving like Gisele Isaac??? She vex with Anhony Smith because he DARE TO CHALLENGER HER FOR CHAIRMANship of UPP!

  2. Really don’t know the genesis of this situation but it is clear that even in our fuel and energy sector, we need completion. Monopolies are bad for business and doesn’t benefit the consumers. We do not have far to look to see this. Years ago, a single telecommunication company dominate here in Antigua and Barbuda. Only the rich and elites could afford cellular phones as both the phones and the call charges were exorbitant and high. Enter competition and the price plunged way down. Antiguans and Barbudans have 3 separate companies at their disposal with each trying to out do the other. Today, even children have cellular phones and data services.
Government must lead the way of moving away from these monopolies and into a competitive based business environment for the benefit of everyone. Whoever is selling fuel need to get a license and have their business status regularized but the idea and concept of having other suppliers is s good one.

  3. Real gangsters and mobsters at work and the funny thing is they’re been supported by the public. How is what these crooks are doing not being criticised as criminals?
    Crime pays in Antigua.

  4. Wha tupidness aryu a talk! Makeda own the Stanford land inside the airport and them throw she and the other black operators off Runway 10 to make a monopoly for a foreign investor.

  5. From since them say are we own wiocthings get harder for us, oil more expensive under monopoly of the government, and me sure them ALP ministers a get them cut still why everything is over priced.
