St. Mary’s North, Antigua – The Hope Tree Foundation, under the leadership of Founder and Director Winston Williams Jr., has partnered with the St. Mary’s North Constituency’s “Better Together” Project to launch a comprehensive two-year educational initiative at Bendals Primary School.
The “Strive for Excellence” Initiative encompasses three major programmes aimed at supporting the hardworking teachers, enhancing student development, agricultural entrepreneurship, and community engagement:
1. The Agricultural and Agro-Processing Initiative will re-activate the school’s agricultural farm and introduce training which empowers students to launch youth business startups in agro-processing. This program aims to foster entrepreneurial skills while providing hands-on agricultural experience.
2. Through the Home Economics and Students Savings Plan Initiative, students are receiving enhanced training in home and money management. The Foundation will provide support for the existing Home Economics program and make a cash donation in the form of an annual Interest Allowance to encourage student savings.
3. The third component features annual educational excursions to Barbuda, where Bendals Primary students will get the opportunity to visit our Sister Isle, connect with their peers at Holy Trinity Primary School, while exploring the island’s Bird Sanctuary and other historical and educational sites.
During his visit to Bendals Primary School on Monday 20th January, the St. Mary’s North constituency Political hopeful presented an array of school supplies along with reading books for the school library, made possible through generous contributions from community partners, including Cindy’s Bookstore at Townhouse Plaza. He also inspected the school’s agricultural farmland, the Home Economics Centre and the National School Meals center, reiterating his firm commitment to strengthening each corresponding programmes.

“Our goal is to support education in St. Mary’s North, and introduce students to community-Led Enterprise from an early age while providing them with practical life skills,” said Williams. “The Foundation’s partnership with the ‘Better Together’ Project demonstrates our shared commitment to community development through education. Our teachers deserve robust support as they prepare young minds to take our community and nation to the next level.”
Williams further explained, “The Strive for Excellence” Initiative will extend beyond Bendals Primary. I had the opportunity today to speak with both Principals of the Jennings Primary and Secondary Schools, and we were able to identify several areas of support and cooperation.”
The Hope Tree Foundation and “Better Together” Project are committed to supporting all schools in St. Mary’s North through community-driven partnerships as we all strive for excellence.

Wow wow wow congratulations well you are giving back some from your I’ll gotten gains Fencing
don’t confuse Mr. Williams with Baldwin Spencer/UPP. Remember how JOHN ASHE exposed them??? CORRUPTION, KICKBACKS, GREED, BRIBERY etc…..
@U & I/Straight Shooter etc.:
Stop being a dunce delusional blue hater and focus on saving your crumbling UPP.
Are you really claiming that the fencing project that a UPP Finance Minister approved tun a Winston Williams private thing now?
Was Winston Williams a contractor?
Why did Harold Lovell tell the public that the project was, on average, good value for money? Are you saying the same Harold Lovell UPP is trying to bring back is a liar?
Harold’s exact sentiments were “some contractor bids were undervalue, some just right, and some a little over, so on average the Fencing Project represented fair value”. Do tell us if Harold Lovell lied.
Value aside, can U & I/Straight Shooter explain with proof how Winston Williams supposedly gained from this UPP government project?
It is empty comments like the daily drivel from U & I/Straight Shooter which underscore why UPP can never win again for a long time. While the UPP goes down to destruction they soothe themselves with the fact that they published a few idiotic editorials and comments, which no sensible person takes seriously.
In the meantime U & I/Straight Shooter/etc, since you are the UPP finance investigator, remember to bring further details on the:
1. Pringle Baba Mega Mansion
2. Sherfield Bowen Convention BMW
3. All of the payments made to various leaders to fiddle with the Convention outcome
4. The $400,000 per year in losses at the UPP workers union where losses mysteriously went way up as the last election approached
5. The millions in investor donations Shugy claimed he had for community projects which we can’t see up to now (where did that money go?)
6. The UPP school bus conversion scandal
7. The UPP John Ashe scandal and its related bribe money
8. The UPP $10 million per mile roads (another Finance Minister matter Harold can shed some light on)
9. The UPP $100,000,000 old-engine failed Wadadli Power Plant
10. The UPP Andrade Gutierrez Airport Runway Scandal overpayment (to a company convicted of billions in bribes/under the table dealings)
11. … the list goes on and on. Just lay all your financial insights on us.
Winston Williams’ only sin was not realizing how corrupt the UPP was at the time. He as emerged from under that dark shadow, improved his education (which the UPP lames hate) and had consistently been a community minded individual.
And by the way, regardless of the ABLP primary outcome in St. Mary’s North, the lame, incompetent, uninspiring Johnathan Joseph, who told us to support the ABLP last elections, will never win in that seat.
@U & I,
That was a cheap ahot. You could have said many other things, but ill-gotten gains is not one of them. Dov you remember what he said about being in the bank to make a payment for his daughter’s school fee Ruth his last savings, or something to that effect? So, where would ill-gotten gain come in? Be more responsible with your chiding of the young man’s desire to run for public office.
The only challenge that I have for Comrade Winston Williams is, did he know that “Striving for Excellence” is the motto for Clare Hall Secondary School? Just saying.

Subject: Concerns Regarding Winston Williams’ Bid to Re-enter Politics
Dear Citizens,
As Winston Williams seeks to re-enter politics under the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), I feel compelled to raise critical concerns about his track record during his tenure as Minister of Sports and Education under the United Progressive Party (UPP).
1. Mismanagement of Financial Allocations:
During Mr. Williams’ leadership, there were significant issues surrounding the use of funds allocated to sports and education. For instance, schools across Antigua were left without proper fencing, even though financial provisions were made under his ministry. This not only left our schools exposed but also raised concerns about the safety of our children.
Additionally, an inquiry into a fencing scandal revealed discrepancies in how funds were used. Despite this, the matter was downplayed, and the unfinished fencing projects remain a glaring issue.
2. Yasco Sports Complex:
The promises to develop Yasco as a premier sporting facility were left unfulfilled. A particularly glaring example was the construction of a bathroom, which reportedly cost an exorbitant amount—enough to build a two-storey house. Yet, to this day, the facility remains inadequate for the needs of our youth and athletes.
3. The Big Creek Roundabout:
The poorly designed triangle near Big Creek remains a hazard for drivers, with frequent accidents highlighting its impracticality. This project, under Mr. Williams’ oversight raises further questions about resource allocation and accountability.
4. Housing Projects:
The wooden houses near the Big Creek roundabout stand as another example of incomplete or poorly managed projects. What was the intended outcome of this initiative, and why does it remain in such a state?
5. Late Efforts to Engage the Public:
After years of inactivity, Mr. Williams’ sudden visits to schools and other community spaces seem more like electioneering than genuine concern. Where was this interest in the years following his previous tenure?
6. Aggressive attitude towards law enforcement officers:
At the V C Bird International Airport suggesting they can not dictate where he parks. Winston, are you above the law?
Priority for Schools and Children:
If there’s one lesson we’ve learned, it’s that the safety and security of our children must always come first. This includes ensuring schools are properly fenced, staffed with security personnel, and equipped with the resources necessary for learning. These priorities were neglected under Mr. Williams’ watch.
Tanny Rose, had you relaxed after you started to show intentions of going into elected politics, but your name will not be placed on any ballot paper in Antigua again.
Conclusion:
Leadership is about accountability, transparency, and delivering on promises. Mr. Williams’ previous performance raises serious doubts about his ability to manage public funds and fulfill the responsibilities of public office. It is time to give someone else the opportunity to lead with integrity and competence.
Let us ensure that we elect leaders with clean track records and who prioritize the needs of our people over personal gain.
Yours sincerely,
The voice of St Mary’s North Constituency
How can we be insane to put you back in elected politics?
Winston Williams throws his hat in the ring for All Saints East & St. Luke in 2021 to run for the 2023 general election. Now it’s another constituency.
Elective politics is your only bread and butter?
Boy, you just won’t stop!
Do you want more of the people’s monies to build fences, build houses, or build half baths?
