Winners of PiAngo Fest Reloaded receive prizes

Today, The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs awarded the winners of the competitions held at PiAngo Fest Reloaded which was a fun filled two (2) day event which took place on the 13th &14th August 2022 at the Cades Bay Agricultural Station.

PiAngo Fest is an event which allows for agro-processors in Antigua and Barbuda to showcase their locally made products but also mainly products infused with mango and pineapple.

This year, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Caribbean Union Bank partnered for the agro-processors competition which had seven (7) categories. The winners are as follows;

Kima’s Delectables won the jams and jellies category with her mango cherry jam the drinks and juices category with her mango cherry drink.

Gramma Aki won the sauces category with her mango sauce

Beth’s Buy won the confectionaries category with their mango leather.

Jollywell won wine Category with a mango papaya wine,

J&N Sweet Treats won the pastries and cakes category with their mango rum cream cheesecake

Smoothie Place won the smoothie category with their mango avocado banana smoothie.

The winner of the grill competition was Aalliyah Green of the Blue Waters Resort & Spa and winner of the mixology competition was Jason White also of the Blue Waters Resort & Spa.

Special presentations were given to the organizers and judges of the competition who were Olvannah Burnette and Executive Chef, Michael Harrison.

This year at PiAngo Fest Reloaded we had the very first young entrepreneurs ever at the event; Hannah Charles who makes hot sauces and Dalan Samuel who creates rosin crafts. Both left a huge impression on members of the PiAngo Fest committee and the Caribbean Union Bank that their efforts were also recognized.

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs, Hon. Samantha Marshall, Caribbean Union Bank, General Manager, Karen Richardson presented the young entrepreneurs with their gifts.

Fifteen (15) year old, Hannah Charles received a gift certificate for Paper Clips and eleven (11) year old, Dalan Samuel received a Junior Savings Account from the Caribbean Union Bank who also started him with $200 and Hon. Samantha Marshall was so moved by his work as a young person that she also added $250 and Permanent Secretary, Colin O’Keiffe added another $100.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Barbuda congratulates every participant in each competition and those vendors who came out and displayed their skills and talents.

The Ministry will continue to support local agro-processors in Antigua and Barbuda and looks forward to more participants at PiAngo Fest 2023.

  1. It would appear that some women in Antigua are eating too much PIANGO.Eat less of that and eat more lettuce ,tomato, broccoli and asparagus. You would see the miraculous differences quickly.
