(Winner announced for the Cervical Cancer Awareness T-Shirt Design competition)

 

Jadon Smith of the Potters Primary School is the winner of the Cervical Cancer Awareness T-Shirt Design Competition held by the Cervical Cancer Taskforce of Antigua and Barbuda.

 

Thirteen students from seven schools participated in the competition. The students hailed from Potters Primary, St. John’s Lutheran, Golden Grove Primary, Antigua Grammar School, All Saints Secondary, Holy Trinity Primary, Princess Margaret Secondary.

 

Second place went to Noah Yeboah of the Antigua Grammar School while third place went to Annecia Frederick of St. John’s Lutheran. Fourth place went to Shanniya White of the Golden Grove Primary.

 

Smith, only 8 years old, said that his mom taught him about Cervical Cancer and how dangerous it is. He continued that he has a mother, grandmothers, aunts and great-grandmothers and Cervical Cancer can affect any of them while noting that he participated in the competition so that he can help to bring awareness. He used the opportunity to encourage persons to get screens and get the HPV Vaccine.

 

Percy Adams, Sales Agent at Flow presented Smith with a Samsung tablet live on ABS this morning. In addition, the winning design will be printed on the Cervical Cancer Awareness T-Shirts for 2023. Cervical Cancer awareness month is observed in January.

 

Head of the Cervical Cancer Taskforce, Dr. Cherie Tulloch also presented a gift basket to the Principal of the Golden Grove Primary since they were the school with the most participants.
