Associates Times: Antigua and Barbuda: After the Indian fugitive Mehul Choksi went missing in Antigua and Barbuda, his close aide Govin revealed that he has shifted to Cuba following fear of extradition to India.

WIC News reported that according to information provided by Nigel Joan, Govin is the closest ally of Choksi in Antigua and Barbuda, who assisted him throughout his stay in the country. In a conversation with Joan, Govin exposed that Mehul Choksi has left the country a few days ago and is currently living in a safe house based in Cuba.

Antigua and Barbuda Police officials also confirmed that they launched a search for the fugitive after his vehicle was found abandoned in Jolly Harbour later evening without any trace of him.

In a big expose, Govin said that apart from Antigua and Barbuda, Mehul Choksi holds citizenship of another Caribbean Island apart from Antigua and Barbuda. However, Govin refrained from naming the country, reported WIC News.

Born on May 5, 1959, Mehul Choksi is an Indian-born fraudster businessman. He escaped India following being wanted by the Indian judicial authorities for criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, and dishonesty, including corruption, money laundering and delivery of property.

Choksi is the owner of Gitanjali group, a jewellery firm that has more than 4000 stores in India. He was not only involved in stock market manipulation in 2013 but arrest warrants against him have also been dispensed in India for the alleged Punjab National Bank scam case.
.

Choksi is implicated in allegedly perpetrating $2.5 billion scam along with his nephew Nirav Modi. The latter is also wanted in India and is currently challenging his extradition in the UK court.

Mehul Choksi was given citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda under the citizenship by investment programme during November 2017. Antigua and Barbuda government noted that citizenship was granted to Choksi after an absolute due diligence process in where Indian authorities cleared him as a lawful resident.

In an effort to retrieve the capital, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) provisionally seized assets worth about $3 million of his jewellery outlet Gitanjali Group.

Exerting stringent action, the government of Antigua and Barbuda had launched the process to revoke the second citizenship given under the citizenship by investment programme to Mehul Choksi. Govin told Joan that this might be the major reason behind his exit from Antigua and Barbuda.

  1. All thanks to world dictator traitor tyrant Gaston Browne.

Where are the persons who ordered the hit on Nigel Christian? Did he discover who “forged” the signatures?

  2. Somebody better call in Lieutenant Colombo or Sherlock Holmes. Maybe magnum PI.

Help needed to solve this one. Serious investigative detective work required here.

    Case of the missing person.

Let us see how this one will unfolds.

Stuff from the movies in real time action in this lovely, corrupt paradise island of Antigua.

Uhhh..did I just use lovely and corrupt in the same sentence?

Oh well…..then it must be Antigua.

  3. After providing vaccines to Antigua, I am guessing that the Indian government was expecting Antigua to return the favour and return this man to them. Well Antigua has gotten rid of the problem and he had a lot of help I am sure in high places. He could only have left for Cuba on a private yacht or plane.

  4. That CUBA talk is a Red Herring. It is quite possible that he “disappeared” long before this was reported… giving him quite a headstart.
Knowing the Banking system in Cuba, he would not the type of access to his funds.
That disclosure of Choksi in Cuba cannot be readily believed.

Knowing the Banking system in Cuba, he would not have the normal access to his funds.

  6. Like seriously people! The first place the authorities should check to verify if he indeed left the country is the Immigration department.
If the claim can be verified that he is in Cuba, then this only highlights how porous our borders are.
This is another can of worms to be pecked at by the “political birds”
