Whitney Williams of Stonewall Sound System has issued a public apology to Elizabeth Makhoul, Chairperson of the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission, following demands from her legal team over allegedly defamatory statements made on his WhatsApp Status.

The apology, posted as required by Makhoul’s attorneys, acknowledges that he has no evidence to support his previous claims.

This move came after lawyers warned of potential legal action if Williams did not comply within three days.

Williams posted commentary on his What’s App status based on an article written about Makhoul.

We have chosen not to repeat the allegations.

“l publicly apologize to Elizabeth Makhoul, Chairperson of the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission, for the defamatory statements made concerning her, and I unequivocally state that I do not have any evidence or information that would tend to support my previous defamatory statements.

  1. If this was to be emancipation celebration as they say, and Gaston and them can’t do it without white supervision, that’s a sacrilege for a white person to preside over a black man celebratory remembrance of when the white world with hold themselves from terrorize us in flesh but continue the economic terrorism, that’s why this white lady has such high paying job supervising our institution of freedom celebration, black people will always allow white people to supervise them, but not me sah!

  2. Eldread: You are an ignorant, xenophobic, racist fool! Hush your mouth silly boy, you talking nonsense.

  3. @Eldread you clearly have no knowledge of our history. Clearly you are unaware that one of the founders of our Carnival is a Shoul. Liz was born here and has roots here.

“Behind the organisation and planning of the early carnivals was Maurice Ambrose, a talented builder and musician. After attending a carnival in the Virgin Islands in 1956, Ambrose returned to Antigua and presented a comprehensive master plan for the island’s carnival to John Ferdinand Shoul. With the vision and ambition to make the carnival a reality, Shoul sought assistance from the government and secured the declaration of August Monday as a public holiday, cementing the annual celebration.” see Antigua Carnival: Fun facts about ‘the Caribbean’s greatest summer festival’ 3 August 2023, Antigua Observer

  4. Tenman: I knew Maurice Ambrose from Cedar Grove. He did own the Bamboo Strip Night Club. He was the Contractor that built Country Club at Donavan by Greenbay.

  5. @Eldread is a fool
Every time people talk facts re. race and nationality, you lot come with buzzwords to avoid conversation.
Why is a non- black person over an event to celebrate black liberty is a valid question.
Would a non- Jewish person be appointed to lead events re. the Holocaust? Let’s be real.

Not facts, what Eldread wrote was pure uneducated, xenophobic hatred. The “non-black person” (There you go again with race! Get over it!) was born here, has a solid educational background and a long, proven track record in business for a long time working with large companies. Experience matters. Results matter. That is all that matters in business. In case you have forgotten, carnival is not just a celebration but is also a business.

Would a non-Jewish person be appointed to lead events re. the Holocaust? Let’s be real. Ok, let’s be real Chups… The current museum director at Auschwitz in Poland is a man named Piotr Cywinski. He is not Jewish, he is Catholic. Anything else?
