The fire that destroyed a building owned by businessman Paul Aflak on May 15 was the result of a welding accident.
“The investigation determined that the fire was started accidentally from welding, which the fire probably drop from the upstairs, downstairs and it caused the fire”, Fire Chief Elvis Weaver told state media.
Firefighters spent hours battling the fire, which started close to 1pm, but were unable to save the building.
The building, which is in the vicinity of North Coast Hardware on Blue Waters Main Road, was still under construction and said to be 90 percent complete at the time of the fire.
It was to be used as the main location for Aflak’s company.
