  2. The government needs a proper land use policy. Why would agricultural lands be used for housing? We need to produce more food locally. Agricultural lands should be preserved for that purpose.

  4. Besides Wehner’s emotional tirade, the facts have yet to be established. Has the said farmer’s right to occupation been proven, not hearsay but proven with documentation, or are the farmers occupying without permission? How long have the farms been established in that area? What are the terms of the agreement? As this would inform the compensation if relocation is inevitable. As he mentioned, the livestock division placed the farmer at that location, but vegetable farming is taking place. So, who is the Ministry of Agriculture extension officer responsible for overseeing the farmers and protecting their interests? How much land was given to the farmers by the Ministry of Agriculture? When did the Ministry of Housing and CHAPA start to clear the said lands, and was the farmer present then? The Crops look very juvenile. Professional investigative reporting is needed to establish the facts. This is just an unsubstantiated rant!
