Water tanks that the government ordered are now ready for distribution to needy households

CABINET NOTES:

The Cabinet also discussed the issue of water supply in the country and a representative from the APUA addressed the Cabinet on the matter.

The Fort James reverse osmosis plant is to be expanded from five hundred thousand gallons to one million gallons per day.

The additional units to achieve his expansion in capacity have already been ordered and APUA will engage the manufacturers so that shipping can be expedited.

The plant will service areas such as St. John’s City, Point, Villa, Fort Road, Yorks, and McKinnon’s.

APUA will also replace the membranes for several existing reverse osmosis plants that have not been producing at their maximum capacity, thereby vastly improving water production in the country.

In this regard, 1,800 membranes at a cost of $1.3 million have been ordered and they are to arrive in the country within a few weeks. APUA will provide a report on the water situation to the Cabinet at least once every two weeks.

Additionally, the water tanks that the government ordered and paid for a few weeks ago are now ready for distribution to needy households.

The approach to solving the water issues in the county that is being undertaken by the Gaston Browne administration is one that is holistic and comprehensive.

When completed in a few months, the country will experience a surplus in water supply and that will be supplied to farmers at an extremely low cost.

Why be so short sighted ? The Government provides FREE TANKS. At least the homeowner can provide the guttering.

      • ANA SALOME

I have my “FOOTS” on your neck. Also I am ” GREATFUL” for your contribution to the UPP. ANA ,You should open an ENGLISH / SPELLING school for PEARL QUINN , FRANZ and the others. What a shame.

  2. This government love poor people too much. Everything they get FREE. Free Home, Duty Free Barrel, Duty Free Car, And people like me paying taxes out of our hard earned money.
Unfair system this is turning out to be. It pays to be poor.
So, all the hardware stores like Shoul can eat up their tanks.

    • The government loves being in power more than they love poor people. Don’t fool yourself, it is all for votes. Imagine they don’t have money to pay pensioners on time but they find money for water tanks. Not that I do not think poor people should get help considering the government removed all the stand pipes and many people in ghettos don’t have running water.
Gaston should ask all the merchants he is giving tax wavers to make a contribution.
Look at the living conditions of people in some of the poor areas. Don’t think they have money to buy tanks. Would like to see how five tanks going to hold on 8000 sq ft for five families.
All them tanks going to Pointe and St. John’s rural east.

  3. Happy that this is being done. Hopefully the tanks make their way to the right people – those who truly need but cannot afford, not only friends/comrades.

  4. Bloated Sidelines: Those Tanks were bought with the money that belong to the PEOPLE.It is not the so called Government Money. It is not Gaston Browne’s money and or Cabinet.Maybe they would be given to all RED PARTY SUPPORTING COMRADES.Poor people do pay taxes in Antigua as you do.

  5. Election gifts start / Democracy dead in the Caribbean. The man with the longest pocket win – the resources of the state used to keep Caribbean politicians and governments in power. We need to see where they get funding from . Investors are their biggest financing.
As soon as election finish they becomes our masters , wiping in we tail.
