Browne says polling, parliamentary conduct could threaten Pringle’s leadership
Prime Minister Gaston Browne says a combination of weak polling numbers and recent conduct in Parliament could put Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle at risk of losing his position.
Speaking on his weekly radio programme, Browne pointed to what he described as declining public support for the opposition United Progressive Party, alongside Pringle’s performance in the Lower House, as factors that could trigger internal pressure within the party.
Browne suggested that recent developments have raised questions about Pringle’s leadership, indicating that continued setbacks could lead to moves against him from within his own ranks.
The prime minister’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions ahead of an expected general election, with both major parties intensifying their campaigns.

The speaker of the house, is often placed in that seat by the governing or ruling party, and yes from the public point of view he or she should be fair, but do we honestly expect him to ignore who put him there? Of course he or she gonna at times show favor for his party. The UPP as a governing party have chosen a few Speakers over the years, did they not show even the slightest favor to the UPP? As I understood, a debate was taking place, and i can recalled even the great debater Asot, being put in line a few times by the Speaker for reading.You read, and everyone should have a copy of which you read from.
This video is now all over Facebook, YouTube etc and not looking good with election in days. It shouldn’t have come to this embarrassment, I wonder if MP Pringle was truly under pressure, as so claimed by many.
