A viral video showing an excavator being driven along a main road without a trailer has sparked public outrage in Antigua and Barbuda, renewing complaints about the damage caused by heavy-duty equipment using public roads.
The footage, widely shared on social media, triggered calls for the operator to be identified and fined, with many residents arguing that the practice has long contributed to the deterioration of the nation’s road network.
The incident has also revived criticism of what some see as weak enforcement against operators of heavy equipment, as authorities continue to face complaints about poor road conditions and the cost of repairs.
Residents have for years raised concerns about excavators, backhoes and other machinery being driven directly on paved roads, saying the weight and metal tracks can accelerate wear and tear and leave taxpayers to bear the cost of maintenance.
The latest video has added to pressure on authorities to crack down on the practice and ensure that heavy equipment is transported properly on trailers rather than driven on public roads.

We can also add the concrete trucks spilling concrete all over our roads as well without having a clean up crew accompanying these trucks to where ever theyre going. We need law and order in our country.
Louis Brother Excavator…He is the owner. very smart, he mashup the road, then he get the contract to repair it.
That excavator was working on the corner of Wireless Road and Benjamin RD for the last week. That plot and the excavator is owned by the syrian Louis.

Gaston brown is a bad leader .. I was driving up airport road and a big truck pass me with great speed and some little stones fell on to my car windshield luckily it didn’t break the truck had no cover and was filled with stones.. this lawless country that we don’t follow rules and it doesn’t apply to there friends and business partners… btw Whats up with the guy that got caught with a gun bullets and a silencer, he initially was sentenced to 3 years that was a sweet deal for such crime, but only to have it commute to half .. now tell me why ? Having a silencer is a BIG DEAL IT IS ACTUALLY MORE TIME THAN A GUN CHARGE, because it takes a sinister mind to want to have such attachment to kill discreetly.. this “LAWLESS” country .. gas there heads up with Ton of lies…
Vote for change .. Gaston must go…. Don’t Stay in an abusive relationship because you are afraid you might get worst treatment from someone else ..
That’s how they feel they can do as they like and feel embolden to even confront Antiguans in their country because they are encouraged by the ruling cabol to do so.
An antiguan could not go to the Dominican Republic and do anything like that.

We in the British Virgin Islands are having the exact same issue. I had to pay repair a fire hydrant myself on the outside of my property and the authorities did nothing even though we reported the matter with the excavators running on the road daily. We even post videos of it. Our governments in the region has no spine, it’s all about VOTES.
