WATCH: Outrage after excavator filmed driving on main road without trailer

A viral video showing an excavator being driven along a main road without a trailer has sparked public outrage in Antigua and Barbuda, renewing complaints about the damage caused by heavy-duty equipment using public roads.

The footage, widely shared on social media, triggered calls for the operator to be identified and fined, with many residents arguing that the practice has long contributed to the deterioration of the nation’s road network.

The incident has also revived criticism of what some see as weak enforcement against operators of heavy equipment, as authorities continue to face complaints about poor road conditions and the cost of repairs.

Residents have for years raised concerns about excavators, backhoes and other machinery being driven directly on paved roads, saying the weight and metal tracks can accelerate wear and tear and leave taxpayers to bear the cost of maintenance.

The latest video has added to pressure on authorities to crack down on the practice and ensure that heavy equipment is transported properly on trailers rather than driven on public roads.

  1. We can also add the concrete trucks spilling concrete all over our roads as well without having a clean up crew accompanying these trucks to where ever theyre going. We need law and order in our country.

  2. Louis Brother Excavator…He is the owner. very smart, he mashup the road, then he get the contract to repair it.

  3. That excavator was working on the corner of Wireless Road and Benjamin RD for the last week. That plot and the excavator is owned by the syrian Louis.
