  1. Wow! That’s how you celebrate a star and a true island star she is. Been following Ms Alfred journey all through university and this is what hard work, discipline and determination brings, congratulations once again Ms Alfred and to St. Lucia. What a year! Progress upon progress with massive consistency.
This will be an inspiration to all promising athletes across these islands and the rewards will be out of this world. Love that you decided to turn pro and already got an endorsement deal by Puma.
I do hope our athletes caught a glimpse of this, realizing that they too can rise to this level with just a bit more work and the discipline that goes with it. Richie Richardson we need a brand new athletic association and the ministry of sport needs to pay attention and provide more support. I remembered way back in the late nineties we had one of the best relay teams and a female high jumper who held her own and because of this same athletic association and lack of financial and other resources from our sport ministry it all fell apart, now it seems as if we are edging further and further away from ever getting a world or Olympic medal, not even in the under 20.

  2. Our current “heroes” of the moment are those leaving the shithole UPP behind!! They are showing that COUNTRY is first, not party!!! Each endeavouring, all achieving. Let’s see who is next to escape the Man Cow Lipstick Hag cult.

  3. @Carvaa – I read you loud and clear, while endorsing your sentiments.

As, I recuperate and rehab on my second [total] knee replacement; being in my mid-sixties (necessary due to wear n tear from playing sports), I had a thought about professional sports in Antigua, Barbuda & REDONDA…

A…A sporting University built on Barbuda, to include all Olympic and International Standards facilities from tracks to gyms to swimming pools to outdoor stadiums for football(soccer), beach volleyball etc. with the emphasis on Sports Medicine(nutrition to family to overall healthcare)

This sporting Institute would accommodate kindergarteners to professional athletes.

B…I know, that many athletes in Antigua and Barbuda are multitalented; and, over the years, many still play two or more sports annually. This has to be adjusted, whereas, an athlete is great in soccer and good at basketball, he or she should be kept playing soccer professionally all year round.
This goes for other sports, as well.

C…the nation needs to have more than several dozens players on the National Roster of any sport. Have FIVE NATIONAL TEAMS for each sport. Have them play amongst themselves all year round.
Involve the various communities. Five Dollar entrance fee for adults. Children 12 and under Free!
This helps to upgrade, upkeep and enhance Community Sporting facilities, much needed now with the paradymn shift in the thought process of the Nation, in regards to the culture(youths to crime to accountability in government).

Again, the Nation’s Professional and those on their way, to becoming professional athletes MUST maintain an all year round presence in their sport.
