Dear Reader,
I am a vincentian living in Antigua and Barbuda for the past four years, and I have observed that certain companies/businesses treat the regular tax paying person as if they don’t have any rights in this country.
Now what pushed me to write this letter is because of the “abuse” I have been facing recently, why do I use such a word as abuse because I really don’t know what else to see it as.
Now on the 11th of June at around 2am in the area of Jennings village where I live Mr. Benjamin was moving a house, now I don’t know the protocols for such procedures but that morning the commotion that was cause by him and his crew woke every one up who live on my street.
He was moving a house that appears to be too wide for the road and because of such hit the column which held my gate.
From then unto now Mr. Benjamin is yet to fix it, he keeps pussy footing around it. By now everyone on Island is aware that C.O Williams has been fixing the roads in Jennings, few weeks ago they had dig up a big hole infront of my gate, they said that a pipe had burst and needed to be fix.
They had then cover it back up so I had assume that it was indeed fix. Only for the 2nd of September they returned and dig it up again leaving me and my children without water, I wonder if APUA don’t see the urgent need to sort this issue out. I have placed calls to them where I was given the easiest answer to get me off the phone “ we will send someone out to deal with it”.
Not only that I have been left with one gate and a big hole infront of it but the guys that work for C.O Williams saw it fit to damage my wall and say nothing or do nothing about it.
Is this the way they do things in this country? I am left without water right before school reopen, left with a big hole infront of my gate I have to worry for my children if they play outside, left with one side of my gate missing. If this isn’t abuse then please help me understand. I am appealing to the relative persons APUA, C.O Williams and Mr. Benjamin to please ah beg please fix this because I am very frustrated at this point.

Boy I don’t know what to say
You need to take them to court – believe it or not its not as expensive or daunting $35 to file the case and around $100 for bailiff… might be a little frustrating but mek sure you take and print our evidence and if you have witnesses all the better… but had to do that when someone moving a house similar to your dilemma damaged my fence and the court ordered them to fix it and pay me compensation… same route you can tackle with CO.W — na mek them get away with ummmm…
