Celebrating the Transformation of Villa and Grays Green Youths – From Rivalry to Brotherhood: A Story of Hope and Transformation

On Sunday, April 26th, the Villa Nazarene Church was filled with joy and gratitude as the community gathered to celebrate the remarkable transformation of young men from the Villa and Grays Green areas.

Once locked in conflict and rivalry, these two communities had seen their youths drawn into violence, delinquency, and hopelessness — fueled by vulnerable home environments and societal pressures.

Today, however, their young men are making bold strides toward becoming positive leaders and model citizens.

It has been roughly over seven months since the intervention began, and these young men have shown incredible progress.

They are now attending school, working, receiving counseling and focusing on strengthening their relationship with God.

The program’s aim is to not only provide structure and opportunity but to also encourage these young men to grow spiritually, with an emphasis on church and deepening their faith.

The service was marked by a powerful sermon from the church’s pastor, who preached from Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

” He urged the young men to hold fast to God’s promises, reminding them that their past does not define their future, and that unity, purpose, and greatness lie ahead when they trust in God’s plan.

Mitchell Jeremiah, who was appointed and consulted by the government of Antigua and Barbuda, led the rehabilitation initiative.

He is also the founder and president of the Mitch League, a youth reformation sports program operating in the United States with active plans to establish itself in Antigua and Barbuda.

In partnership with the government and other key stakeholders, Jeremiah and his unwavering team — too many to mention — provided mentorship, structure, and unwavering support to the young men.

During the service, he expressed heartfelt thanks to all those who have played a vital role in helping bring the young men this far.

Once divided, the youths of Villa and Grays Green now stand side by side — no longer enemies, but brothers united by hope, resilience, and a shared vision for a better future.

They are growing into responsible, productive citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, ready to contribute to their communities and inspire others with their powerful stories of transformation.

  2. Another propaganda by the ABLP

Elections are in the air and Antigua News Room is owned by them and hence the reason for the total bias reporting and always bringing the opposition to shame.

But people can see right through them.

  3. Good news ,i hope they will become apart of the National police community base Youth clubs movement of Antigua and Barbuda 🇦🇬, whenever this initiative is form….

  4. When spiritual barriers are broken down only then will the heart and soul of maen be changed.

We need to continue praying and supporting them in every way possible. There should be a hotline or support line where people can call and contribute to this and bigger initiative.

  6. Please explain the presence of Michael Joseph in that photo……..
The labour party doesn’t hesitate to take advantage of a bad situation or crisis.
They are politicising the intervention in the lives of troubled young and seeking to gain politicial mileage.
This is the same administration which created the mo steps and now seeking to make it appear that they are fixing a bad situation.
This is the same prime minister who saw zombies at the court and on attaining leadership said he wanted more so he decriminalized cannabis.
I guess it is all in the name of love.
    Love of vote and power.

  7. @Mr Byam: Are you ever going to shut up you uneducated moron?! Hoodlums or not, you can’t deport people who were born here you dummy! With every post you make, you sound even more stupid. As I have said before, why are you even living here? You should return to West Africa or the UK to be around your own people since you hate the majority of people that live here.

  8. @Straight Shooter @Byam
Who you want dem to send, Richards Lewis? What nonsense ya’ll chatting. Everytime you open your mouths, it’s always politics. it seems as if you are hurting because your administration is not at the wheel. Is there any time when you can be truly happy for progress in Antigua & Barbuda? You are the one that does make your party colours come out. Come on man, it can’t be that ya’ll are adults with this kind a mindset and attitude. Ya’ll sick dark tummuck now. Grow the hell up. Aryou nah sweet now!

  9. @ Proud Mother
I am saying. Don’t know what nonsense they chatting. You just can’t please stupid people. Seems like dem vex to see a positive outcome. Cause how can we be upset that the children are making a positive step forward. Just tell me!

  10. This makes my heart smile and I am so proud of each and every young man who has seen fit to make a change for his family, his future, his country, and simply for himself. I know it gets hard some times but keep on pushing because you are worthy…worthy of good things, worthy of peace and worthy of a prosperous and fulfilling life. So keep on pushing my young brothers…ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!

  11. This brought tears to my eyes. So proud of these young men for taking back their future. From hopelessness to hope, this is what true community looks like. Keep going, brothers. God is truly working in these young men. When we put faith first, transformation follows. Thank you, Villa Nazarene Church, for being the light in the community. The power of prayer and mentorship is real, That verse from Jeremiah was perfect. God’s plans are bigger than our past mistakes.

  12. This is just the beginning. I hope we see more investment in these kinds of interventions across the island. They say it takes a village, this story proves it. Let’s keep surrounding our youth with the love and structure they need to thrive.

  13. Mitchell Jeremiah’s dedication is so commendable. Programs like Mitch League can truly change lives if given the support they need.

  14. Jeremiah 29:11 is the perfect scripture for this moment. God truly has a plan for each of these young men. Keep walking in His purpose. This proves that with God, support, and community, even the most broken situations can be healed.

  15. I must commend the government for its initiative and Mitch League for its tremendous support. The church and its members must also be recognized. To the youths involved be an example to the others you know who are still in the same situation share your experiences with them

  16. It is lovely to see the change created in these young men. All out to the government for seeing the future in them and making them meaningful to society.

  17. The last set got chicken farm, or did they?
What will this set get? Pig Farm or weed cultivation?

    Dis nuh sweet nuh more

  18. This is one of those news that produces a smile on your face. Commendations are definitely in order to the Prime Minister and others persons that went forward with him on this mission. There were lots of negative comments when he did but the positive results are now showing.

Congratulations to the youths that have taken on the mantle of change – big up yourself guys, you are making us proud.

  19. Really inspiratjonal stuff. Compliment the Browne Government. It really isnt easy to do what they did. Usually ppl would just swoop in and accuse and lock the juveniles but they were embracec instead.

  20. And of course we forget who took the bold step in meeting with these two gangs and bring them together. It should be said. That to the visionary leader we have, the honorable Gaston Alphonso Browne who did not think of himself too high to come down to meet these youngster on their turf and give them a second change in life. Thank God for a leader like that. My the Lord keep on blessing him. Despite of the many ill minded wicked persons on the UPP side who can only preach nothing but hate. There is no LOVE in their heart.
