VIDEO: Woman puts local hotel on blast after finding ‘black mould’ in her room

1. Damn. LOL get yall crap together or shut it down. All that money being spent to build the damn place. What a waste if you don’t see the need to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance. As an Antiguan, this is a damn shame and disgrace.

2. Antigua is currently covered in mold. Government offices, hotels, private homes, mold everywhere.
   No body cares!

I am not going to lie but if any of us travel, including the man who told her take a fair deal, to any hotel while on vacation and saw that the room was infested by mold, we would immediately ask to be move or for a refund. Wrong is wrong and right is right. You all need to stop treating people like dirt when in return you would never accept it. I just hate small islands state of mind.

4. Royalton Chic Hotel in Antigua is the worst hotel on planet Earth, and the current government cares nothing the truth. I went there, they gave me a key, I walked to my room over 4 times and when I got there, the key is not working. I had to walk back and forth over 4 times back to back for them to fix the keys. They did not even offer me a ride, knowing it is 4 times. They sent 2 persons with me the last 2 times who confirmed the key doesn’t work. I tipped those 2 guys $100 each.

   Got food poison, staff refuse to get me water. Nearly all staff just arrived in the country for the job, especially the managers, still dropped about $19,000.00 in tips and not because the service or products were good but because I needed to give it because years ago I was fired for accepting tips offered to me while working as a bell man and i promised no matter what service I get at the hotels, i will enact what I considered to be my revenge; tipping outrageously.

   because I was fired for accepting tips as a bellman because no other opportunities existed in Antigua and Barbuda in 2002.

   Anyway, back to my experience at Royalton Chic in Antigua and Barbuda started under ABLP. I was hungry a night at the hotel, I went to take food back to my room, I did not want to eat in the restaurant, they said I cannot do that, they must bring it. I walked back to my room and waited about 2 hours for the food that was already sitting out in front of everyone to pick from. Literally the next night, the white guest was allowed to take food directly from the restaurant into his room but royalton chic refused to allow me, black guest, paying more money, from taking food to his room himself, so that I can immediately eat as I was starving.

   I then post the information here and as usual, the idiots who will defend their political party started to Distract the local and online idiots of the truth and harms of their political party’s decisions and failure in this aspect.

   No hotel in Antigua should have nearly all Spanish managers who can not speak any English or nearly all lower level managers who were brought in to work without first publishing the available jobs locally and take reasonable steps with the ministry of labor to make the job offers be known locally.

   Hotels, when clearly wrong, should return some form of the money paid. I would have preferred my money returned (the amount I paid directly to the hotel) so I can give it away as tips to locals. The hotel did not deserve not even a penny.

   How many days did it take for me to get toothpaste? Local Antiguans really do not understand they deserve better and can get better.

10. Antiguans will never know they deserve better because they always have their hands out to politicians. I don’t know when they will realize that we employ the politicians and not they employ us. They work for us not the other way around. WISE UP ANTIGUA. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR MINDS AND COUNTRY.

11. This is damaging not just to the hotel property in question but to Antigua and Barbuda’s reputation as a whole. It is regrettable that the hotel did not seek to engage the guest and try to resolve the issue in an amicable way before this very public spat which is embarrassing.

    So what really causes molds:

    Humidity – Humidity is one of the common reasons mold occurs. That is why molds are primarily found in kitchens and bathrooms or where steams often occurs.

    Poor Ventilation: If the room is poorly ventilated you risk getting molds.

    Water Leaks: Water leaks from pipes, sinks or the likes is the number one causes of molds.

    Tourism is our country’s bread and butter. Any such negative publicity can severely hurt the property in question as well as the overall Tourism product. The hotels need to boost and improve their customer service acumen so that they can effectively deal with and resolve these issues before they are escalated and become an embarrassment.

12. They should have moved her to another room and let me even go as far as upgraded her room status, it may have been a none refundable deal so the refund was out of the question, but it had to be other rooms and in this case of higher value.
    Now let me say lots of these hood rats comes to these islands acting like they all so clean and sophisticated, acting like they never see a roach in their life, then you decide to check them out when you travel abroad and find out most of them lives in these government Projects, they embarrassed to open their doors when you show up and when they finally do the same roaches crawling all on the ceiling.
    Before booking a hotel check for the number of 🌟 stars, then jump to the review section, now it’s up to you and your budget.

13. Private homes (board n wall), apartments, hotels and office buildings are not maintained. Preventive maintenance seems to have skipped the mindset of the population. The capital of St Johns is a shining example of neglect and it trickles down through all structures islandwide, just sad.

14. @Carvaa, stop being an idiot. Anyone can have mold and cochroach in their home but when they pay a hotel for a proper, clean, and without roach and mold room they must get it.

    What you have at home have nothing to do with what you contracted/paid for.

    For once use sense Antiguan, have a little sense. My goodness.

15. Government can’t clean up their mold infested buildings, the private sector slacking as well.

    What a damn shame..when the head is rotten, the whole damn rest of the body is rotten to the damn core as well.

    But yet still, these damn supporters of this fool that’s in office keep worrying about UPP and their couple resignation, and continuously ignoring that this damn island is falling apart..

    The health minister in this island needs to be fired..this has been going on for a long time now.

    But hey, I won’t hold my breath, because Antigua has gone way way backwards in the last ten years..the place stick to high heavens. Many of the roads are not even to good to walk on, much less drive on.

16. Staycationed numerous times, the place is infested with black mold. Dining room ceiling covered in it. You can smell it in the rooms. God knows the state of mold in the aircon system. Everytime I’m ill for about 6 weeks after. Unfortunately it’s one of the few hotels on island that let you take children, not a lot of choices on that front.

18. It’s amazing! With the thousands of tourist and return guests to our various hotels year after year, along with the many tourism awards handed out, it takes one little hood rat from the states to get us all on here condemning and now finding and bringing out all the faults of our hotels, some even blaming the PM.
    I want to believe the hotel was still fully booked even with the concern of this one guest, since the simple solution was to offer her another (UPGRADED) room with no additional cost. If you booked a nonrefundable room or flight, the refund issue is out the door everyone knows this.
    We on here putting down our hotels, when this shit happens all over the world. Man even in some five star hotels you find room issues and if our health department go around checking businesses that’s it for tourism industry.The things these people do here along with the freedom and let loose behavior, are things they can’t do back home so they will continue to vacation in the 365. She will return and with friends to the best destination in world.

19. Most of employees are foreigners they don’t care about Antigua hotels, the managers stress out the Antiguans that they can quit then hire their own people hopefully the government takes a hold of tourism before it’s to late.

20. @Carvaa, not sure what law school you attended, but the ones I know of and attended, and the laws I know provide for refund where there is a breach of contract, and no stipulation in a contract are above statute and equity. The court can reform any co tract when there are reasons that justify the reformation of such contract and or provide incidental or consequential damages, etcetera.

    The ignorance people say will literally keep the country down. Telling you that you have done wrong when it is the truth, is for you to correct the wrongs and not condemn those the wrongs you have made has hurt.

    Those awards are also useless. They are given by folks who are treated like God when they arrive to judge, most of the times the system knows who they are.

    The awards are useless and not from regular nobody who get treated like nothing. Who is at the hotels but is being treated like crap because he or she does not look like the preferred tourist but may have a 1000 times more than the preferred kind of tourist.

    Start treating all guest with care and respect. They may just.

    Talking about no refund because you almost killed someone through your negligence or reckless conduct is tremendously the dumbest thing I ever heard.

    I can’t stand people who victimize victims.

21. First of all I’m not a hood rat! And i live in an upscale home with no roaches rats etc and i own my home!! It’s sad that tourism is what keeps yall country going but yall want to get on here and call me a hood rat!! Bet yall houses is as filthy as that hotel and i will tell everyone i know dont come there! The people state of mind bothers me real bad
