Give me a break. All this shows is Antiguans are dunce here and abroad. If she was told her mom died from COVID, what else she expected them to tell her? Remember up until not too long ago burials for those who died from COVID was almost immediate so what grand investigation did she expect? She even said her mom had a “mild” case of dementia so obviously wasn’t in her best health. This is a grieving woman who has not accepted her mom’s passing and looking for someone to blame. She could not even properly articulate any clear wrong doing on the nursing home’s part so accountability to what end was she expecting? Chups.

I wouldn’t have answered her either because if her letter was as poorly written as how she presented her “case” here as much as I am sorry she lost her mom, I would have tossed it in a bin. She said she was indeed told her mom died from COVID… so what else did she want? Again, she has not named a reason for that not to be accepted. She has not presented a credible alternative about why her mom died and again, her mom was older with dementia, whether mild or not, it is indicative that her mom was not in her best health and was probably on her last leg. We know there’ve been cases of abuse and neglect in nursing homes but she has not even said anything to indicate that is the case. She’s just grieving and the government can’t help with that.
What an awful individual you are @ Chupid. Many ANR commentators are trying to raise the bar in correspondence, and I applaude those that do.
But there are some topics that are taboo and out of bounds, especially when dealing with the death of a loved one.
Can you imagine someone dealing with your mother or loved one in the same manner as you?

This is a government that can take on any issue. No matter what. Sir Molwyn Joseph could have lied and said he had not seen the letter. But he disclosed honestly that he did see the letter and was following up, but got nowhere. And, look at the transparency in government, he even disclosed that there is a bill in the making to regulate these private facilities. And promise to work with her to get answers from the private facility. Great transparent government. By the way ANR is that all you can take from the meeting? Those nursing homes need to be investigated. Untrained personnel are performing medical procedures , like putting in feeding tubes from the nose to the gut and putting. In the patients windpipe instead. Injuring or killing them by aspiration pneumonia. Insist on an autopsy to determine cause of death

I feel for this woman. However her Mom was at a private facility on a part time basis. Why do you think the nursing home had anything to do with your Moms death? If she contracted COVID how is that the nursing homes fault?

PM Browne passed the buck on this one, to the Health Minister and not only is he clueless regarding these Elderly Care Facilities, for him to state, that legislation is now before the Parliament, to address the establishment and management of these facilities says, as usual “the cart has being placed before the horse,” which shows PPP -Piss Poor Planning powered by REACTIVE measures.
Not only should legislation already be in place which govern these HEALTHCARE FACILITIES, Annual Inspections with spontaneous spot checks should be the norm, as well.

My concern is if the lady died from Covid what answers do she deserve. So many persons died from Covid at the hospital does the families for those persons deserve answers as well if the district doctors always on call to pronounce the dead in his district the cause of death should be on the death certificate before the court sign it off so the person can be buried so she knows the cause of her moms death. What she really needs to find out is how did her mom contacted the Covid virus
