At least two off-duty police officers were injured during a brawl at Darkwood Beach on Carnival Tuesday.

Three off-duty officers reportedly tried to defuse a dispute among men on the beach, when men from a nearby area reportedly descended on the scene with offensive weapons and reportedly attacked the off-duty officers, inflicting several injuries.

One of the officers reportedly fired warning shots to disperse the attackers.

There are no reports of anyone sustaining gunshot wounds from the incident.

Meanwhile, the extent of the officers’ injuries is not immediately clear and it is also unclear whether any arrests have been made in the aftermath of the incident.

  1. I thought there was to be no partying or large crowds on the beaches on Monday or Tuesday! Does anyone see the number of COVID cases rising? We are smarter than this.

  2. If the situation is so tense. You had to pull your gun. Then you should not fire a warning shot. If you had to fire a warning shot. Then you should not pull your gun in the first place. Was it his personal gun or that of the Police Force?

    • So, you would have preferred if they shot to kill. I didn’t hear this been advocated when some from the Spanish community damaged the police property a few week ago……But this is how we roll in Antigua I guess.
