Earlier today, Prime Minister Gaston Browne signed a memorandum of understanding between the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and the United Kingdom based Harrison Centre for Social Mobility to support the redevelopment of the current Antigua and Barbuda Institute of Continuing Education (ABICE). The Harrison Centre works with hundreds of young people in the UK to provide the tuition and training they need to help them grow in confidence and secure a job.

 

It also supports a growing number of charities and organisations that work to tackle low social mobility by working with young people and connecting them up to employment.

 

The Centre in Antigua and Barbuda will be first overseas Harrison Centre for Social Mobility.

  1. “Levelling up”, why is my beloved Antigua 🇦🇬 falling for this BLATANT UK 🇬🇧 propaganda and nonsense?

    This utter crap helped Boris Johnson’s Conservative party win the last election, however, the reality on the ground is that the UK,s fishing industry has been decimated, food banks are all across the country and energy prices and inflation has soared, and furthermore, the working man and woman is having to hold down 2-3 jobs just to SURVIVE.

    … AND ANTIGUA WANTS TO FOLLOW THIS DISASTROUS AND AND UNWORKABLE PROJECT.

    Please Prime Minister, we suffering already, following the UK will make our economy and matters worse!!!

  3. What is the big hu ha? I thought he was signing for big investments in Antigua to provide jobs for the young people. I guess anything is better than nothing when you are gasping at straw.

    • They say, without a vision the people perish. I guess since you have no vision, it is good that our PM does. And we, that can see the vision, rejoice early. The construction process will provide the job you want, but more so the young people that will be educated there will be equipped with skills that will provide them with a lifetime opportunity and income earning capacity.

  6. Leadership really matters. As the Chinese saying goes, “give a man a fish and you’d feed him for a day, teach him to fish and you will feed him for life.”
    “If You are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people”.
    This PM of ours is consistently showing the people of this country that he is planning for a lifetime. The UWI Five Island is a Lifetime investment in the people of this country. And now we have yet another educational institution that will become a pillar to success for many many many young people for generations to come. I tell you this man has earned all the accolades already. He will be SON of the Nation, since we already have FATHER of the Nation. Mr. PM thank you very very much on behalf of the grateful ones in our nation. Not the haters. Don’t pay them no mind.
