Democracy in action! Everyone has the right to make their voices heard.
Hope the concerns raised are taken seriously and not just ignored.
Protests are important, but are there real solutions being proposed as well?
Hope the government addresses the issues rather than dismissing them.
will this lead to meaningful action or just more division?
Hoping for a peaceful resolution—Antigua and Barbuda needs unity more than ever.
The SAME OLE PAPPYSHOW CLOWNS showed up. Still a LOW TURNOUT since Antigua people just fulla chat and lack ACTION!!!! either that or they can’t b bothered with UPP.
Pringle needs plenty work. He is lazy and should apply himself more to his duties if he wants to become a leader 🙄. He’s just the puppet of his party
To borrow a quote from UPP/Baldwin Spencer:
“Them can march from here to McNish…….a fu me decision!”
At least PM Gaston Browne said he would tweak the amount in response to the public feedback. UPP said “AH FU ME DECISION” a dem a de dictators!!!
dawg baldwin havent been in politics for literally a decade
CanSomeone tell me what are their issues? From what I’m gathering they don’t want to pay to drive on 1st world roads. Yet they will complain that the roads need to be fixed.
If the UPP picketers could tell the government based on the government’s budgeted parameters where they could find the millions to fix the roads it would be so helpful and insightful and not come across as them opposing for opposing sake.
The UPP has no real solutions or policy initiatives that make sense to those of us who have a few brain cells.
Help us to Help you tell us where we should get the money that would not affect the pockets of the poor people you seem to want to represent.
Professional Marchers Check in please.
The issue is people don’t feel like they have money to spend. I thing its obvious a lot of people are struggling. Personally I see Antigua spending millions on this project, getting millions from this investor and also one of the best tourist destination and don’t see where that money is going. Here is a solution I guess license by vehicle value or get the money else where if they need the income like high earning business, hotels or only have income tax for the wealthy
The roads in Antigua and the tax affects everyone, it is not political. What happen to the money received to fix the road in the past. People should be paid to drive their vehicles on these off roads. Where there is corruption and bad spending habits government implement new taxes.
Can anyone Remember more jobs less taxes.
They don’t mind paying because my government in power.
When it was personal income tax where the rich will pay ,the poor who wasn’t paying was complaining
The government gave a 14% increase on wages and salaries in January 2024. So, someone working for $2,000.00 is now $2,280.00 monthly.
The licensing fee has not been increased for 30 years. This newly proposed 40% ( which is negotiable with a robust constructive debate in parliament) will amount to a vehicle that pays $400.00/year, will now be paying an additional $160.00 = $560.00. This works out to be approx $13.33 per month. So, after receiving a salary increase of $280.00 monthly, $13.33 will not break the bank.
That’s one hamburger less less a month. One piece meal at KFC per month.
If the MPs make sensible arguments to reduce the percentage of the increase that would taken under advisement as opposed to the name-calling and berating of the administration’s proposal.
Let’s be mature in our discussions.
