Yesterday a leatherback sea turtle was caught in a swim marker line while attempting to come ashore to nest.
People in the area were able to set it free. The Antigua Sea Turtle Project did not get there in time to assist.
If you look closely on the turtle’s rare fins you would see some shiny tags.
By reading them we are able to see and record this individual’s history, where she has been and how she relates to migratory paths being studied around the world and foraging grounds.
