  1. He made a huge mistake by not resigning. And his arrogance shows his ignorance in this matter.

  2. Come ahead and issue the writ then nuh ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ

  3. Of course they have to call the by-election. Labour done ah campaign. They playing games to catch people off guard. Me done tek out mi voterโ€™s card. Ready!!

  4. Keep the pressure up your Honourable Kelvin ‘Shuggy’ Simon.

The ABLP are hiding behind “so-called” legalese and defying the will of the electorate in St Mary’s South.

Gaston’s legal representatives (or should I say cronies) have been proved incorrect by the constitution – and much better legal minds -, that has showed that not only that Mr Simon has the right to tender his resignation, but has also shown up the ABLP’S nefarious and contemptuous behaviour towards Shuggy’s constituents.

POPCORN ๐Ÿฟ AND WADADLI BEER ๐Ÿฟ ANYONE …

    • cmon Brixtonian. for the power of reasoning (though evidently quite limited) with which you were born. Why deplete what little you have by publicly and shamelessly making such utterances?!?!?!?

      • @ Really, why don’t you guys EVER comment on what I’ve actually written?

Can’t you respond in kind? Or are you even LESS limited in your vocabulary than me?

        Seems so … ๐Ÿ˜

  5. Megga liars. The UPP are Inveterate & creative liars. The best of the best. If the UPP won the general elections would have simply excused away his eligibility. They thought they would have won the general election so there would be no questions regarding his eligibility. No one questioned the UPP a during their tenure.

    • And the ABLP are “Megga” thieves that why autochthonous Antiguans are suffering. Self-enrichment has caused irreparable harm.

      DEM AH TIEF!

WHAT SAY YOU @ HMMMMM …

      • @Brix.. You claim we thief yet residents are better off under ABLP than they were under UPP. Things are now better managed. The US just yesterday upped our ranking in terms of our dealing with human trafficking (we are now at level 2, along with Barbados vs level 3 under UPP). Our financial sector is now stronger due to ABLP policy of pushing to make indigenous banks bigger. An economy (fastest growing in the oecs region) that was 3 billion (3.19)under the UPP, is now 5 billion. Our health sector, according to the central bank governor, is now the best in the region. Clearly you want your people in office so they can again steal from the people and give you some. Why not ask Pringle, who is now richer under ABLP, to give you some of the dead animal collection dollars?

        • @ tenman

Quote ‘ where did your wealth come from?’- a man that used to write numerous bounced cheques in opposition who is now PM has overnight become rich by $300,000,000.00.
It does not take a kindergarten to figure out how he got his riches, IN FACT he openly encouraged his colleagues to ENRICH THEMSELVES, maybe through ODEBRECHT (for example), all the kick backs from government contracts, the rental of back-hoes, the rental of his properties even when not needed and the government still paying rent for Cuban doctors and nurses, the non-stop dredging of the harbour, the ‘burning’ of cash by the National Development Housing at Dredge Bay as per Weston.
AND U TENMAN because you are one of the 1% what about the other 99% who are going through hunger and starvation, malnutrition, lack of necessities at the hospital- UNCOLLECTED GARBAGE. U HAVE TO BE SICK IN YOUR HEAD. NO WATER TO BATHE. WHICH COUNTRY DO YOU LIVE IN. U GOT TO BE MAD. DO NOT ABUSE BRIX THE MESSENGER. ANTIGUA IS THE WORSE IT HAS BEEN SINCE 2004, U GUYS CANNOT EVEN PAY THE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS DUE TO GOVERNMENT SUPPLIERS. WAKE UP, STAND UP FOR YOUR COUNTRY MAN. NOT BECAUSE YOU GET YOUR FAT BOARD FEES FROM WIOC ETC, ANTIGUANS ARE SUFFERING LIKE NEVER BEFORE. U KNOW WHY, YOUR COMRADES HAVE ROBBED THE COUNTRY BLIND AS PER INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR ESTEEMED LEADER- OUT OF HIS OWN MOUTH AND U STILL DEFENDING THAT AND CASTING ASPERSIONS ON UPP WHO ARE NOT IN POWER?
          DO NOT ATTACK THE MESSENGER.

          • “The economy is projected to grow by 6 percent in 2022 supported by tourism and construction activity..” see Antigua and Barbuda: 2022 Article IV Consultation-Press Release and Staff Report, May 2023

@hypocrites – Mostly the construction and hotel sector. You may prefer to ignore but the data shows us having more stay over tourists under ablp than happened when UPP was in office. More locals are now investing in airbnb type accommodations. Homeporting (you may recall the UPP fighting Global ports since they need to see A&B fail) has also helped . For a breakdown let me suggest you check the eccb website. As far as the unpaid contractors, why would the leader of the opposition invest so much in waste disposal for government if it was not lucrative (more than 10 trucks)? Pringle unlike some of you, understands as a citizen he must make use of the opportunities being made available

        • Where are your FACTS to match up your STATS @ tenman?

Please enlighten us all, so we can judge for ourselves. Pretty please.

          REMEMBER, FACTS MATTERS … ๐Ÿคœ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿค›๐Ÿฝ

        • @Pops – I get the feeling that at night he dreams about Gaston. Notice the added bitterness when he speaks about Maria

        • Respond to what I’ve actually said nah POP[AH]. Name calling nah mean nothing to me.

When Brixtonian COMMENTS the ABLP acolytes LAMENTS. Nice!

          • @Brix.. or better yet hypocrite: There is no one who enjoys getting personal more than you, because most times you are not capable of debating. Anyone who reads your comments know you can’t go long before mentioning Gaston. Its like he on your chest and you need him deeper. Where Simon (Shuggy)is concerned let him have the fake things the UPP like ie a mock election. A collogue of mine has software available that has been used in the past in other mock elections.

  6. Why this Guy Shugy acting like a FOOL. He is ARROGANT. What an ASS. BRIXTONIAN is encouraging FOOLS like Himself. Jackasses.

    • @ JP
Please, Shuggy is Arrogant? All you guys do daily is listen to talking points from SORE FOOT TANNY ROSE THAT CANNOT EVEN WASH HIS OWN SKIN.
Anybody more arrogant than GASTON. Which person goes into parliament and boast about having $30 or ยฃ300 million- the GUY is NOT ACCUSTOMED TO NOTHING. HE HAS THE GHETTO MENTALITY IN HIM. THATS PURE POOR BOAST OFF THE BACKS OF POOR ANTIGUANS.
HE WAS THE ONE THAT SAID THEY WOULD WIN ALL 17 SEATS, SO WHAT IF SHUGGY SAYS HE IS A WINNER? U GUYS JUST SICK PEOPLE STOMACH.

      • @Poor Boast _ GB is a 3 time PM. No one else in our history (well since 1981), not even VC has pulled that off. Considering the better cards we have been dealt (a disaster like covid unlikely any time time soon), he is set for a 4th. Try not to make this truth hurt you

    • Hey @ JP read my above ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿฝ comment to @ POPS and stop showing the nation your ignorance.

  7. BRIXTONIAN is a CLOSET Supporter of UPP. He never showed His face at a picket. BRIXTONIAN is the BIGGEST ASS in Antigua. Find a job you AS”””””SH.

  8. Since he so keen why not organize a mock election? They love mock trials so why not one for election? Then again seems he sees the last election as mock one why he did not see the need to ensure he was properly nominated.

  9. “Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!”
Well well Mr. Simon. I guess you will have to go to court to force the PM to call the election. Other then that, is better you wait until the court has ruled whether or not you were duly nominated as the candidate for St. Mary’s South to run in the election. Take your changes either way, it is the court that will decide.

    • @sidelines – Yep and remember in the past they have stated they have no time nor faith in the courts. The judges they claim are partial to labor. Notice they don’t want to accept the fact that the real issue is they have no case. Watch how they pushed the Barbuda issue which the privy counsel took no time to dispense with. One gets the impression watching it, the judges asked Justin why you brought this here. Now the new argument is they will take it to a higher court. I am thinking they mean justice square (mock trail). They are truly a lawless (childish) bunch hence why Brixtonian is attracted to them.

      • @ tenman

I have never seen a MIGHTY political party so afraid of a by-election in all my life.

It is so UNATTRACTIVE that even your supporters are scared. The outcome of which you do not want the Antiguan public to see because the results will show the deep erosion in support that has occurred over time and that is the reason for the fear.
There might also be a second by-election according to school children.
Everyone is seeing through your UNATTRACTIVE FEAR and that speaks volume against THE MIGHTY LABOUR PARTY. Antiguans drunk but Antiguans nar fooley.

        • @Unatt… Try and remember who has won the elections since 2014. 3 times in row. For UPP any loss you all label it as happening due to something unfair. Get your hanky ready for when shortly SAM get that’s seat

    • I see you wake-up Sidey. How’s tings, I see that Shuggy’s slick manoeuvres have you worried as well. Nice!

      Take it eassssy boss ๐Ÿ˜

      • @Brixtonian June 20, 2023 At 6:17 pm
“I see that Shuggyโ€™s slick manoeuvres have you worried as well.”
Brix. I thought by now you knew me. I do not comment on any and everything. Especially topics that warrant you to have some legal training. But I do listen and read the various opinions and see which one makes more sense to me.
The problem I have with Shuggy is that he let the UPP brothers misled him. The law was explained to many before the Nomination Day. He was urged to resign before that date. Infact, if I were Samantha, I would not even have warned him. Cause as a lawyer knowing that his winning would be challenged in court is a win win situation for her. But strange things happened before in courts. Sometimes you lose in the High Court and the Court of Appeal, but you win your case in the Privy Council. Whether Shuggy wins his case, nothing changes. The ABLP remains the government. And you guys may think that one seat gives you a chance to see the government fall. Well keep wishing for the next five years. You may have more melee in the UPP’s Camp as to who shall be the Leader. Given the popularity of the PM in the party there is no way any one of the members will challenge him for leadership. He will have to give a little more to some than before. But that is politics. I guess you’d remember when he dismissed Dean Jonas and Michael Browne. In this term he cannot afford to do this. He needs to get along with everyone. But as the PM has always said, he’d rather be an ordinary citizen in a successful state than to be the PM in a failed state. Therefore, I believe if any of his ministers would challenge him, he’d call an early election.
Now I have listen to all the arguments whether or not Shuggy has the right to resign. And in particular this morning I listened to Twin Island Media and Daren brought the usual idiot Akaash Maharaj and the well renowned professor of the UWI St. Augustine Campus, who lectures in Constitutional Affairs and Parliamentary Studies.
        https://sta.uwi.edu/uwitoday/archive/december_2021/article9.asp
I mean you cannot get anyone more neutral than this professor. Or more educated for that matter. What the hell does Akaash knows about Constitutional Affairs. Please go and listen to what the good Professor had to say.
        https://www.facebook.com/twinislandmedia/videos/554027633606111
In short, he agrees that Sir Gerald was standing on the constitution and that 41 comes before 125. Shuggy needs to comply first with 41 and thereafter he can resign. It’s not that he cannot resign, but the procedure to resign is not to go straight to 125. He therefore suggests to Shuggy to comply with 41, then resign as in 125 and then trigger the bi-election. In which he can then run again as a member of the UPP.
But the bush-lawyers of the UPP fail to understand how to read and interpret laws and therefore give Shuggy bad advice. And you know what the sad thing is. The speaker, in his letter to Shuggy, advised him to come and sit with him so he could explain to him how he could resign. But NO, the bush lawyers advised Shuggy to write to the speaker to tell him he should reconsider his position. Sad situation.
Therefore, Brix, I do not comment on issues of which I have no authority to speak. I listen to many educated views. Not the uneducated ones. And I strongly suggest you start doing the same.

        • Even though we can NEVER see eye to eye @ Sidey, at least you try to be coherent and explain your thought process (the other ABLP and Gaston ‘$3 million’ Browne supporters should follow your example) as to why you continually follow the negligence of this government. Admirable!

We’ll both find out in due course whether or not the Honourable Kelvin Shuggy Simon has made the right move in his resignation.

I believe Shuggy threw the government a beautiful curve ball.

Don’t hide yourself away again though (like you did with the Africans were being smuggled into the country, and NAMCO and CIP), because you are normally cogent in your replies – though incorrect at placing the Prime Minister before the welfare of your fellow Antiguans.

          Grudging respect Sidey … ๐Ÿคœ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿค›๐Ÿฝ

  10. @Brixtonian June 21, 2023 At 9:07 am
“Donโ€™t hide yourself away again though (like you did with the Africans were being smuggled into the country”
You see, here you go again making unfounded allegations. No one was smuggled into the Country. Everyone came here legally. They entered the VC Bird Port of Entry and presented themselves to the Immigration Officer who provided them with a visa. Because they say they were here on a short vacation. All paid for their visas and went on their way. What we do see now is that they are smuggled out of the country. They are not leaving legally. This is happening because they never intended to stay in Antigua. They have people waiting for them in the USA and try to get there by any means necessary. Sadly, one of the trips turned out to be a disaster. And now some are in St. Kitts registered as asylum seekers. The Antigua and Barbuda government has offered them to make Antigua their home. But I guess that is not attractive to them. Ultimate country of final destination is the USA. Sad that so many people still see the USA as the only beacon of freedom. The Shining City on the Hill.

    • “No one was smuggled into the country …”

PULL THE OTHER ONE @ SIDELINE, ITS GOT BELLS ON IT – YOU’RE EITHER GULLIBLE OR YOU AH MEK JOKE!

This is why nobody takes what you say seriously Sidey. The majority of Antiguans believes that something isn’t right about how the Africans arrived here in Antigua, and you are telling us Gaston ‘$300 Million Dollar Browne’ didn’t know.

Now if say for instance, that the Africans arrived here by boat, then many of right thinking Antiguans could maybe understand, but 3-4 airplanes? No way, no how boss, that’s POLITICALLY organised however way you ABLP acolytes want to spin it!

However Sidey I do enjoy reading your utter trip and nonsense … have a great day! ๐Ÿคœ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿค›๐Ÿฝ

      • @Brixtonian June 21, 2023 At 11:47 am
Smuggling is the illegal transportation of objects, substances, information or people, such as out of a house or buildings, into a prison, or across an international border, in violation of applicable laws or other regulations. More broadly, social scientists define smuggling as the purposeful movement across a border in contravention to the relevant legal frameworks.

I hope you get educated one day.
When you pay your money on an airline that fly to Antigua and Barbuda and you clear customs and have given permission to enter the country, it is not an illegal act.
Yes, the Africans exploited a route that was opened very quickly. And thanks to the UPP and their cronies, they made noise, and the gateway was closed before the problem became much bigger.

        • “And thanks to the UPP and their cronies, they made noise, and the gateway was closed before the problem became much bigger”.

          YOUR WORDS NOT MINE …

Here, here @ Sidey at least YOU even recognise that the opposition party was very very concerned about the influx of Africans, hence the importance today of an independent investigation/enquiry as to how this serious issue came to in the first place.

I WISH I WAS AS EDUCATED AS YOU SIDEY ๐Ÿ˜

          • Brixtonian June 21, 2023 At 1:49 pm
The concern of the UPP was not because they were smuggled in the beginning. The concern was because they believed that the government was bringing the Africans here to come and vote in our election. Something totally impossible. And I remember they even had some of them on Observer Radio with Dr. Jacqui Quin asking them if they came here to vote. When that didn’t stick, they went about requesting that these people be sent home. Cause it became clear that the arrangement that some of them made for their onward trip to Surinam, had them stranded here. That is when it became clear to the government that something other than what was originally contemplated was going on. These people saw Antigua as a transition point to travel to the USA. And Antigua would not facilitate that. Just like how the people from Central and South America travel all the way to Mexico to cross the border to go into the USA. The USA had asked Mexico not to let them through any longer. But we all know how that is working out now.
