St. Mary’s South Member of Parliament is back in the Lower House of Parliament. Simon, who previously resigned in June after legal wrangling about the legitimacy of his election, took the Oath of Allegiance earlier today.
Scores of family, friends, and onlookers donned UPP parry colours in support of Simon.
Simon, in October’s by-election, beat the DNA’s Andrew Antonio and the ABLP’s Dwayne George.

Simon looked very uncomfortable swearing in simply because of the nonsense he has to utter before he can serve his people. He didn’t swear allegiance to SMS, or Antigua or the constitution. No, to King Charles III.

I agree with you @ Forward Going Nowhere about swearing allegiance to a controversial British monarch; and it’s not only the Most Honourable Kelvin Shugy Simon having to show OBEDIENCE and COMMITMENT to a offshore king, but anyone who obtains Antiguan citizenship has to do likewise as well.

Once again Pringle showed how inept he is. It is embarrassing to see that an elected member can go to parliament and make such a fool of himself that even his colleges were laughing at him. Pringle could not understand that LIAT 1974 and LIAT 2020 are two different companies and that LIAT 2020 is not yet operational.

I really don’t see the humor anymore in his performance. I only see embarrassment for the standard that our parliament is operating at with these inept UPP politicians, that really should not be in our Parliament. What a shame.
But then again the saying goes, “You get the Government you deserve”. That is the price of DEMOCRACY. People can sometimes vote against their best interest.

I agree with you that the UPP has to up their game. They cannot be coming to parliament to ask questions just for the sake of asking questions. They need to come to parliament with pertinent questions and when Gaston gives his flippant answers, they should be prepared for him.
All democracies should have an opposition in parliament. It appears that Gaston doesn’t want an opposition and treats the opposition members with disdain. The opposition has a right to be in government just like him and he needs to show respect. They are who the people elected. He does not own Antigua and Barbuda all the resources. What does he want? A country like Haiti where Papa Doc ruled the country and then his son took over after he died? A dictatorship?
The opposition asked a question about PLH, and all he said was offset. And the opposition let him get away with that answer without clarification. Most intelligent people suspect that all is not up and up with PLH.
I am tired of seeing the clown show in parliament. The opposition must up their game and come to parliament prepared and stop asking questions with no depth.
So Brix, tell me what was Shuggy’s contribution the first day in parliament? Did he stand up and ask questions to the PM about things not being done in SMS. Afterall he is the representative of that constituency.
No he just warmed the chair. None of these guys are ready for prime time. They standup and ask dumb questions of the PM and Pringle up to now doesn’t know what he can bring under the agenda point “Personal Explanation”. he stood up to talk about some rubbish that the NSW has not picked up. As if he doesn’t have the means to call a truck and take it to the dump himself.
