Two Suspects Charged in Connection with Policeman’s Weapon Robbery

Authorities have apprehended two individuals in connection with a robbery involving a policeman’s weapon earlier this week.

The primary suspect, identified as Jari Wilkins of Villa, was taken into custody along with another Villa resident, Tequan Burton.

Both men have been charged with possession of ammunition after law enforcement discovered the ammunition at a location they occupied.

The police believe Wilkins is the main suspect in the robbery that occurred on Monday morning, around 10:30 AM.

During the incident, a masked gunman carried out a brazen daylight robbery, targeting both the operator of the Pearl River Supermarket in Villa and a police officer.

An undisclosed sum of money was stolen from the supermarket operator, and the policeman’s weapon was also taken during the robbery.

Surveillance footage captured the armed suspect in the act, which aided investigators in identifying and apprehending Wilkins and Burton.

While the police have charged both men with possession of ammunition, the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to gather sufficient evidence to formally charge Wilkins for the robbery.

The police force has reiterated their commitment to bringing those involved to justice and is urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.

The robbery has raised concerns about security in the Villa area, prompting calls for increased police presence and vigilance.
