COMMENT MADE BY Eli Fuller VIA FACEBOOK:

Okay so while it’s so flattering that Antigua News room follows every word I write or utter, the journalistic skills perhaps could use some help. I wasn’t arguing that it was unfair to the upp. If that’s what you understood from listening to what I said then I don’t know what to say but I’ll try.
I repeated over and over that this election does not serve the people of Antigua and Barbuda at this moment in time. The election will only befit one group of people and a huge amount of resources will be wasted.

Fuller Argues Snap Election Unfair With UPP in Disarray
Businessman and social commentator Eli Fuller says the timing of the upcoming snap general election is unfair, arguing that the main opposition United Progressive Party is too weak to provide a meaningful contest.
Speaking in a Facebook Live video, Fuller said a strong democracy depends on a functioning opposition capable of challenging the government and offering alternative ideas. He argued that the current state of the UPP, which he described as being in disarray and not taken seriously by many voters, undermines that balance.
Fuller said calling elections under those conditions does not serve the people, but instead benefits the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party.
“It’s like kicking someone when they’re down,” he said, referring to the opposition’s struggles to reorganize and present itself as a viable alternative.
He questioned why elections are being held now, noting that the government still has time remaining in its term. According to Fuller, delaying the vote would have allowed the opposition to rebuild and better contribute to the democratic process.
Fuller also warned that without a robust opposition, governance risks becoming one-sided, with fewer checks on decision-making and less debate on national issues.
His comments come amid growing public discussion about the readiness of political parties ahead of the anticipated election, which is expected to be held within the coming months.

The Opposition has its internal conflicts. However, they have also said they are ready and would say to the government call the election now. The election is called so what is the problem. They should be happy it is called to become the government. Eli politics is not Sunday School. Any government will call an election when it is to their advantage.
The opposition is NOT on its knees! And who is Eli that his flawed opinion needs to be considered ? UPP has a FULL SLATE of candidates.
Stop with the lies and misinformation please.
@ LIAR LIAR
ELI FULLER is correct. UPP has destroyed Their brand. UPP members were shouting ( CALL THE ELECTION NOW). Now election is called , They crying. Blame yourselves. An Opposion party should always ready.
All UPP Caretakers and Members do is to CUSS Hon. Gaston Browne. They never had a plan to UPLIFT Antigua..
Dave Lester Payne and IAN (MOLESTER Magic ) Hughes ) CUSS Hon Gaston Browne Every Wednesday on OBSERVER Radio. It’s a SHAME
Who is Eli Fuller??Well he is an Antiguan, that believe that really cares about Antigua. He is right it’s like kicking a guy when he is down
Antigua is on its bloody knees with these current leaders, so where is the out-cry for such. The youth crime rate is out of control. They are killing each other left right and center, and when they are done killing each other, the elderly and women are their next targets.
Corruption in this land is a mess..millions in vehicles are walking out the door without anyone noticing, and not a damn soul is doing anything about it.
The judicial system is a joke..killers and hitmen walking free or spending a few years in jail only to be let back out to ravage the public all over again.
There is no doubt in my mind that some of these out of control youth are sent to assasinate people, knowing fully well that they will only get a slap on the wrist.
Perfect way to breed killers ain’t?
Under this current government, Antigua has gone to the dogs .The city is stink to high heavens and money is leaking out the Treasury like water, and it’s the little disagreement that a few grown men have is what these fools are worried? At least they are not killing one another like they ( you know who) took out their own man Asot.
UPP is not on its knees, the entire damn island is. Cost of living is killing the people, and it’s only Carribean and the religious pride they have that’s stopping them from bawling out.
The good ole saying ” eat what is set before you and ask no questions”. That’s the religious concept that’s killing the Caribbean, and most notably Antigua.
Stop taking the damn crumbs they are giving you people..The people of this island deserve more. Isn’t Antigua an independent nation, so that means they should stand alone, no?
Look at Haiti, the first island to get independence, and where are they now? Corruption has killed that nation..you people better learn, because Antigua will turn to the same. Many think they have cover, because for years they have gotten away with this nonsense, but “AI” will be used by the same God you all cry to, to reveal every one of you wicked bastards..just watch.
What an idiot. So if an opposition never gets it’s act together, we will call no elections? Barbados and St. Lucia have the same situation of no viable opposition. Guyana is getting there. It seems that people are more interested in associating with a winning party with a plan and track record.
Three times though?? And they want to run a country?? Chupzz
@Just Saying. You are correct.
It is not the governments fault that in Mr. Fuller’s eyes, the UPP are too weak or are in disarray, etc. Remember, this is politics not a good natured charity cricket match between two churches and is how politics works in dozens of countries around the world. The UPP leadership have said they are ready for the general election but even if they are not, that’s their fault since they know the rules.
If the UPP gets crushed at the elections, they only have themselves to blame.
The upp party just have to be ready at all times
Obviously, they do not have the funding. Everything Eli is saying is 100% correct. This election only servesablp. In my opinion though, Gaston is watching what’s happening around the world with oil prices. He did say the government will subsidies the price of gas but the government can do that for only so long and with the price expected to continue to rise, he wants to get the election over with before antiguans begin to get frustrated.
The misinformation and wanton destabilising of the opposition is in full flow at present by ABLP supporters. However, what ever issues the UPP have cannot be compared by a government who only makes the effort when any votes are on offer. Fact!
It amazes me how often that commentators you rarely see or hear from suddenly reappear around election time; and the regular troupe this time around is that the country’s main opposition isn’t fit for purpose.
A lie from the devil and his acolytes!
Bwoi, all I can say is that “this ABLP ‘bandwagon’ must be full up by now…”
Just waiting for Fitzroy to raise his head as well soon.
Eli. When will UPP be ready? They should stay ready. That is what a good opposition is supposed to do if they want to govern, or even stand a chance of taking government. This is not a pity party. They have to get their shit together. Dem nah ready. We the people are tired on them not being prepared. You think now is the time for people to be forming the fool with their livelihoods. You haffu mad.
Fuller is chatting rubbish! The best time to deal with your opponent is when they are down.
Fuller should take a peek at Mike Tyson’s fights. Mike Tyson never allow his opponent to recover. If the opponent is down, he stays on top until the referee says the fight is over…
Such an approach makes Mike a great fighter
On the otherhand, UPP knows the Westminster system always give the incumbent prime minister the privilege to call an election whenever he sees it fitting.
So UPP should have gotten their house in order from day one
That’s their MO @Brix.
Come out with all these useless innuendos and gossip just to stare the conversation away from the real facts, and that’s Antigua has eroded under this current administration.
In the height of the most lucrative yerars in Antigua’s history, this government has taken the money and stolen it, wasted it, and have down-right given it away to the likes of Air Peace and the Chinese in exaupetant and badly constructed financial deals, why, because all the kick backs that GB and his band of merry men has gotten from these outside investors, were just to sweet.
Now look at the next ten years, the global market will be on its head, and the wicked money will dry up.
Criminals can’t hide in Antigua anymore, because Antigua is now exposed (again) as a corrupt land. I know many don’t think that the visa thing from the EU, Canada and the US is a big deal, but just watch who these idiots crawl back to when the goings get tough. GB will soon have to hide in one of these of countries, because Antigua is too small to hide.
All the money that will be made in the Carribean from these investments will mostly go to the Chinese, and we all know that the Chinese fight for no one, so when they have gotten what they came for, they will leave the Carribean just like they came, in secret.
It’s righteousness that exalts a nation, and Antigua has fallen to the wolves.. just like the days of Sadam/Gomarah.
When you have lost the youth of your country, then there are no one left to teach. You can’t teach old dogs new tricks.
Today is Friday, just go down town and watch the mayhem walk or drive pass you.
UPP? Antigua have way more things to worry about. More will be killed, and no justice will be serve to the wicked. That’s the construct of this Great leader everyone of these blind jokers are hailing.
Hail to Ceacar huh.. well we all know what became of that story..he hang himself in france and died as a mad man with the blood of Jesus Christ still on his hands, the same hands he washed from doing the right thing, justice!
Antigua and Barbuda is currently navigating a pivotal period regarding its international standing, specifically concerning US visa restrictions and the regulation of its Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program. All I know is that these issues would be crucial and vital going forward and we better be able to resolve them. Elections doesn’t necessarily resolve these issues. We still can’t get to the US without paying a hefty bond and God knows if and when that would be resolved. These two issues and more MUST be high on our agenda as we vote.
For over a year now the UPP has been calling for an election. How could they not be ready? Eli Fuller just likes publicity and attention to massage his huge ego.
Dear People of Antigua and Barbuda,
As we stand on the cusp of another election, we must pause and reflect on the direction our nation is headed. For nearly eight years, the Antigua Labour Party has held power, and now, after just two short years since the last election, a snap election is upon us. The timing raises questions, and the stakes have never been higher.
We must look beyond party affiliations and see the stark reality of our daily lives. Yes, the current government wields power, and yes, they have the resources—money, influence, and access—that often sway voters. But we cannot be blinded by short-term gains. We see it on our roads—they crumble beneath us. We feel it in our pockets—a 40% hike in SUV licensing fees, unfairly targeting those with older cars. We suffer in our hospitals—our MRI machine lies broken, and the trust we place in our healthcare is shattered. And we feel the isolation—the inability to travel because of a tainted citizenship program.
I ask you, fellow Antiguans and Barbudans: is this the future we want? If we vote simply out of familiarity or fear of change, we doom ourselves to another cycle of neglect. Our anthem calls us to stand together: “Fair Antigua and Barbuda.” But fairness means ensuring every citizen thrives, not just those who cling to power. It means demanding roads, healthcare, and opportunity for all, not just a select few.
We must wake up—no longer be placated by handouts or fleeting promises. Let us vote for the Antiguan and Barbudan future we deserve: one of justice, health, and prosperity. Enough is enough. The time for change is now.
Eli Fuller is a born Antiguan who went to secondary school in the 80s…The guy has been round long enough and he knows what he is talking about…..People may want another option that the currant government but at this point the main opposition UPP is not creating the correct picture to convince that they are a better option…..Too Much fighting and the leader gets in his feelings and loves to get angry loose his composure and either storms out or gets thrown out of parliament…Supposed he is our PM representing all of us at VIP meetings with other world leaders just a few push backs in debates and he could snap or he is fumbling trying to pronounce words….They ain’t ready but that is their fault at the end of ther day….U wanna run a country show the people you are ready and get your shit together…
Who said the UPP is destabilized?
Is there any more destabilized group in Antigua than the ALP?
Never.
The ALP is a cult.
They cur each other’s head off on Newgent Avenue.
When they reach on Factory Road or Old Parham Road they pretent to be the most united force on earth.
What Antigua really needs now is for the ALP to be taught a serious lesson.
Sadly the electorate is not smart enough to see what needs to be dine and to do it.
I am calling in all patriotic Antiguans to do what’s right for Antigua.
Not for a political party.
We can all hear a d see what’s is happening in and around Antigua.
The labour party has, as they always do in office, taken Antigua to shame and disgrace.
The snap elections is all about self preservation.
It will get worse after the elections should this gang be reelected.
If America doesn’t request one ir two if our politicians there will be a total ban on Antiguan passport entering America.
The blame on the America—Iran war will intensify for our hardship.
Thankfully the rain will fall on the just and the unjust, the educated and the uneducated, the haves and the have not, the laboRATs and the UPPites.
Interestingly, those who will feel it more will be the laboRATs.
Why?
Because in their coconut they believe that they voted for better.
They will be expecting a better Antigua.
It will never come.
That will be unlike the opposition supporters.
They will know form the last vote to count that worse is ahead.
They will be prepared to suck the salt.
Our raod to the IMF is already paved.
The driver is on course.
Mid term the prime minister will relinquish the ministry of finance to someone in his cabiNOT.
The road ahead is not paved with gold.
Antiguans, it is not too late.
We can avoid all this on our shoulders.
Let us do the right thing at the polls.
We must VOTE OUT TBIS GOVERNMENT.
THEY ARE NO GOOD FOR ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA.
The fact that the labour party is entering the elections with nine UPP members is no source of comfort.
May I remind you:
A FLOCK OF SHEEP LEAD BY A LION WILL DEFEAT A PRIDE OF LIONS LEAD BY A SHEEP!!!!
Let the UPP be the flock of sheep.
You will see the lion on the night the ballots are counted.
The UPP reminds me of the Democrats in the US, they are intellectually lacking and have no solutions to the problems.
SO E-LIE WHO WILL YOU VOTE FOR?
LET THAT SINK IN…….
DNA DID NOT KNOW THAT RESULTS IN THE POLITICAL GAME TAKES TIME….THEY WERE LOOKING ON IMIDIATE SUCCESS AND GOT DISCOURAGE BUT IT IS A GOOD THING BECAUSE THAT SPEAKS TO THEIR CHARACTER OF COUNTRY FIRST AND STICKTUITIVNESS.
