Reports say the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) was informed by a Jonas Road man that he had been robbed of $750 in cash by unknown men.

This offence reportedly occurred at about 3:45 a.m. on the All Saints Road.

The victim claims he was driving from west to east when he was stopped by four men who were dressed in black police tactical uniforms, with ski masks covering their faces.

The men also appeared to be holding guns as they stood next to a silver SUV.

Reportedly, the men approached him and began to search his vehicle, as well as his pants pockets, while demanding money, and he was subsequently relieved of the cash he was carrying.

The perpetrators then drove from the scene.

The Police carried out a search for any suspicious vehicle and persons fitting the description, but without success.

This is the second such incident of which REAL News is aware in which robbers impersonated lawmen.

In the other incident, a Cassada Gardens woman had also been stopped and robbed by two men reportedly dressed in police clothing.

Meanwhile, a 39-year-old Villa man had been the victim of a robbery several hours earlier, at about 12:30 a.m.

Allegedly, he was beaten by a group of young men and robbed of his cell phone on Gordon Street, while he was on his way home.

Following the traumatic experience, he went to the CID and made a report. The man had to be transported, by CID personnel, to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he sought treatment for the injuries he sustained during the incident.

As usual, the Police searched for the suspects, but without success.

  2. Brother, I work late at time as well and if its not a police vehicle I and I not stopping pun no raod inna night or day to any civilian vehicle, dem will have to catch me and me a drive go station. I am dead serious bout that.
This issue is not being addressed and people are left to act on thier own and this is my way of acting. If them drive me down and lick shots, there will be a shoot out bredda, somebody will lie down and stop breathe cause no f**ckin body anit gonna pretend to be police and stop me on no raod inna ANU and expect me to stop with me not seeing and able to identify them as law inforcement. If them get inna my way dem will get run over and me nah look back neither.
Tek this as a waring MR. Commissioner and PM.

  3. “” The Police carried out a search for any suspicious vehicle and persons fitting the description, but without success”” THE USUAL THING HAPPENING. People need to start to do what they can to survive in this place and police better act REAL QUICK before there is a massacre!

  4. Smfh …. What TF is going on in this MF country ?
Me na TRUST NO POLICE OR POLITICIAN.
Then y’all want the public full cooperation????? HOW?

  5. One cannot help but to think that there are actually crooked police committing some of these offences in addition to the regular criminals.

If they can extort and blackmail people when their identities are known, what is stopping them from simply putting on a ski mask while clad in their government issued uniforms, carrying government issued firearms, and robbing civillians?

Afterall, who are the civillians going to call for help? How can the criminal cops find themselves?

Ever notice how police in Antigua, in our hot humid climate, even in the middle of summer are wearing what appear to be woolen tams on their head? How do we know its not a ski mask rolled up?

In any eventuality innocent citizens are under attack and are in a dire state of distress. Urgent help is needed from an international crime fighting agency. #SendHelp

  6. The opportunity is available they took it. There are nearly zero chances of these people pretending to be police officers being caught at those times.

They knew there is no adequate patrol, they knew that the opportunities exist and there are no risk of being caught.

Again, my opportunity reduction system must be used promptly. There is literally nothing being done. These people know police are never foot patrolling, or bicycle patrolling or car patrolling in any effective manner. It is like none of these patrolling exist. The island is too small for this to be happening which means the force is ineffective at reducing criminal opportunity on a tiny island.

I could formulate a plan that is more effective with 30 officers. It would be better but 30 minimum can be used in my tactic.

Hand over advisory of the force to me, advisor.

  7. It’s not the police fault tho, let’s be honest some people knows who is who and knows the information of alot of things but somw don’t want to share those to the police. We can’t force anyone to talk or come foward police can’t do everything 🤷 it takes the public to speak up if you know what’s going on amd who is behide this speak up. But sadly alot does not do this so it’s not the police fault, some says they won’t trust the police but yet when something happens to them who they calling Same police 🤔 lol yall funny.

  8. Interesting to see the exponential rise in opaque windows on vehicles, including wind shield. Way beyond ‘heavy tint’ , they are opaque.
Is this not illegal? If PM etc Al need money, check the car & issue hefty fines and removal of said opaque tint.

You report severely increased gun violence.
    Ummm
Wonder what people have inside those opaque windows???

  9. And Atley Rodney is trying to downplay crime here along with Cutie Benjamin.
Until one of these politicians become a victim, nothing will ever be done. How do you stop this from escalating out of control as people take steps, and rightfully so, to protect themselves?

  10. To my fellow Antiguans firstly, stop relying on the Lord to come down and save you from criminality. Purchase your own guns and learn to use them because “lethal force” is what they understand. Next, the massive increase in crime is in fact, due to Police participation and Cutie Benjamin, Atley Rodney and Browne are unconcerned with locals while, White Vactioners have greater priority. This will continue until the people take charge; otherwise, you will become victims because you’re placing your “SAFETY” in the hands of others who are not a priority.
