Veteran Calypsonian David Rudder Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease

Calypso legend David Rudder has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and as a result is expected to be performing on stage for the last time in a major show next month.

Rudder, affectionately known as “King David”, turns 70 on May 6.

And on that day, he will be marking the occasion with an event titled “come and celebrate” at Sound Forge in Woodbrook.

But the performance may be bittersweet as it is anticipated to be his last time on a major stage.

Speaking during a press conference at Kaiso Blues Cafe, Rudder said after the pandemic and the loss of several loved ones he decided to do a health check-up.

This is when Rudder said he received the Parkinson’s diagnosis.

While Rudder said he may do other performances this is expected to be the last of this magnitude.

  1. My husband has Parkinson’s disease, he is about 63 years old it was diagnosed 2 years ago. It was getting more difficult to live for him, because of stiff muscles he couldn’t even move. Mirapex and levodopa medicines were given, but didn’t give much relief. He couldn’t eat food without choking. I thought this might be the last stage and the medications he was given did not help at all, so I started to do alot of research on Ayurveda treatments, I was introduced to Health Natural Centre and their Parkinson’s Ayurveda Protocol. He started on the Ayurveda Treatment last year, his symptoms gradually diminished including his vocal cord spasm, Muscle Weakness, Tremors and Difficulty with swallowing. Reach them at naturalherbscentre . com , he is getting active again since starting this treatment, he is able to walk again ( down the street and back ) he has also resumed exercising to strengthen muscles!! God Bless all PD Caregivers. Stay Strong, take small moments throughout the day to thank yourself, to love your self, and pray to whatever faith, star, spiritual force you believe in and ask for strength. I can personally vouch for these remedy but you would probably need to decide what works best for you.

    • Good information provided there and I am sure that persons who are affected or have relatives that are so affected locally would welcome your submission. We can learn so much from each other!

    • @Bonnie
Can you please post a link to the natural Herb center, I am unable to locate it. Thanks much

  2. @Bonnie Chismar – good choice, Ayurvedic medicine has been used successfully for hundreds of years before “modern” pharmaceuticals came upon the scene. Best to your husband and hopefully Mr. Rudder will investigate Ayurveda for his illness.
