As Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) women candidates gear up for a primary to determine who will contest the St John’s Rural East constituency, the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) has its man – Vincent “Vere” Cornelius Jr.
Described by the party as a “young, successful, dynamic” businessman, Cornelius Jr is the proprietor of Wheels Supermarket on Wireless Road.
He was introduced to the public at an event Tuesday night on a platform of empowerment of youth in the Rural East community through entrepreneurship and sports. The businessman has been involved in sports as a past Coach and Vice President of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association.
Born and raised in the Clare Hall community, Cornelius Jr is an alum of the Antigua Grammar School and Murray State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s in Finance.
He joins several others on a DNA party ticket for the upcoming election which its leader, Joanne Massiah, anticipates will be called in the new year.

Congrats vere. You’re a good guy but never know you had such a big heart. However keep in mind that your quiet decent personality will get dirty.
Vere is now u gonna hear rubbish and scandalous things that never existed about you coming up but my brother take it in good faith and call on God. Not sure about my support as yet cause am waiting on all the candidates to come see me and tell me how they can better my life as well as the lives of my fellow constituents.
I don’t want no politician coming to talk talk talk. At my age of 33 if you’re not coming with substance please save me the time you’re gonna waste have me standing up or sitting down with you chatting. This election won’t be business as usual and I personally don’t care which party governs because whoever is in OFFICE I must respect and follow orders. All I care about is the lives of my fellow constituents as well as myself.
Time enough that we start demand more from our current and future representatives. So Vere roll out your plans and policies and I will look at them along with your parties plans and policies holistically to see what’s best for me as well as my constituents and ANTIGUA&BARBUDA.
