Vaccine mandates extended to tourism workers, bus drivers, airline employees and others

The latest amendment to the Public Health Act (Dangerous Infectious Disease) (Amendment) (No. 16) Regulations 2021 extends vaccine mandates to persons other than government workers.

No. 20. States ‘Mandatory vaccination for frontline tourism workers and stakeholders, public transport operators, tour operators, etc:

(1). With effect from the 1st October 2021, all unvaccinated frontline tourism workers and stakeholders who provide direct services to arriving passengers and tourists, including but not limited to, airline employees, baggage handlers or redcaps vendors, tour operators, and hotel workers are required to be vaccinated or to present to the relevant authority a Medical Exemption Certificate approved by the Chief medical officers or her designee or a Religious Exemption Certificate approved by the Board in order to continue to work or to provide services.

(2). With effect from 1st October 2021, all bus drivers, conductors, taxi drivers, and persons who provide transportation services are required to be vaccinated or to present to the relevant authority a Medical Exemption Certificate approved by the Chief Medical Officers or her designee or a Religious Exemption Certificate approved by the Board in order to continue to work or to provide services.

(3). A person who is in possession of an exemption shall be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test to the Chief Medical officer at the Ministry of Health Headquarters once in every 14-day period.’

    • These vaccines have not done any of those things anywhere in the world.

      Israel which is highly vaccinated is having a worse outbreak than before vaccination started.

      But I guess Antiguans believe magically these flawed vaccines will work in your country.

  1. Mr. PM, Please get us the Cuban vaccine!! You have so much mouth and waving your finger bully at us, why not wave that same finger and mouth of yours to WHO and CDC to approved our Caribbean scientists’ vaccine from Cuban. Let them know that your people are in dire need of the Cuban vaccine. Yes, vaccines are here on the island that we can choose from but we want Cuban vaccines just like we have Cuban nurses and doctors here. We have the right to say what we want because we hired you and your ministers to work for us. So, do the job or you get fired coming next election.
