The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is pleased with the increasing number of people being inoculated at its four vaccination sites, as it completes day two of its public vaccination drive.

The highest number vaccinated today, came from the Sir Novelle Richards Academy vaccination site where approximately 620 persons received the COVID-19 vaccine.
A combined total of approximately 1000 persons were inoculated at the other three vaccination sites.

According to the Minister of Health Sir Molwyn Joseph, the evidence suggests that each vaccination site has the potential to achieve the goal of inoculating 500 persons daily. The Minister adds efforts are continuing to improve efficiencies at the vaccination sites.

Tomorrow has been set aside exclusively for the inoculation of persons 65 years and older at the four-vaccination sites located at Villa Polyclinic, the Glanvilles Polyclinic, the Multipurpose Cultural and Exhibition Centre, and the Sir Novelle Richards Academy.

The vaccination sites are open between 9:00am to 3:30pm.

Targeted vaccination continues at job sites. Over 200 persons were inoculated at the Antigua a and Barbuda Port Authority today.

The schedule for the vaccination of groups within the public sector will be released shortly.

  1. Why only four sites?

Much worse still, why are the sites only open until 3:30pm? Is not a deadly pandemic reason to open ‘late’?

  2. Delighted the 40,000 came from Indian Govt thru Caricom agreement on Monday.

PM at VCBIA mentioned we’re expecting 20, 000 COVAX doses… All mentions of COVAX prior to this have been 40,000 doses. WHICH IS IT?

PM in same speech mentions he is ‘shopping for other vaccines’. We need to be ASSURED there is DEFINITELY sufficient AstraZeneca ( Covishield) landed on island no later than May 20th, to be certain the people injected with AstraZeneca now do have their second shot of same vaccine at the 12-week deadline.
