U.S Places Antigua & Barbuda On Level 3 Advisory: Reconsider Travel

23

On August 6, in close coordination with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Department of State lifted the Global Level 4 Health Advisory.  The Global Advisory, initially put in place on March 19, 2020, advised U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19.

With health and safety conditions improving in some countries and potentially deteriorating in others, the Department is returning to our previous system of country-specific levels of travel advice (with Levels from 1-4 depending on country-specific conditions), in order to give travelers detailed and actionable information to make informed travel decisions.  This will also provide U.S. citizens more detailed information about the current status in each country.  We continue to recommend U.S. citizens exercise caution when traveling abroad due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic.

Antigua and Barbuda has been placed on – Level 3: Reconsider Travel

Reconsider travel to Antigua and Barbuda due to health and safety measures and COVID-related conditions. Some areas have increased risk. Please read the entire Travel Advisory.

Read the Department of State’s COVID-19 page before you plan any international travel.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for Antigua and Barbuda due to COVID-19.

Antigua and Barbuda has lifted stay at home orders, and resumed some transportation options, and businesses operations. Visit the Embassy’s COVID-19 page for more information on COVID-19 in Antigua and Barbuda.

Barbuda

While Antigua received little damage during the 2017 hurricane season, Barbuda was seriously damaged. Infrastructure on Barbuda is still being rebuilt and there is power to fewer than half of the residences on the island.

Last Update: Reissued with updates to COVID-19 information.

U.S. citizens considering traveling abroad should review the entire Travel Advisory for their destination(s) on Travel.State.gov.  A full list of recent updates to Travel Advisories can be found here:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories.html/.

We are closely monitoring health and safety conditions across the globe, working in partnership with the CDC and other agencies.  As always, we will regularly update our destination-specific advice to U.S. travelers as conditions evolve.

Keeping the American public informed of health and safety conditions around the world is key to our broader mission of ensuring the safety and security of U.S. citizens.  The Department of State has worked closely with the CDC since the start of the pandemic to align our public messages and travel advice and to keep Americans safe.  The Department’s COVID-19 Travel Advisories are informed by CDC’s expert judgement of the health situation as well as other factors related to travel, infrastructure, healthcare resources, and potential closures and restrictions in the country which are important for U.S. citizens to consider.

  1. Interesting that Barbados, Anguilla (yep not one case of Covid since April 3rd, heralded as covid free) .. the entire Caribbean region has been placed on level 3. Outside the region Singapore, South Korea, Germany.. Norway are all at level 3. Looks like US elections vs reality dictates CDC decisions

    • I’m sure officials in other countries are intelligent enough to know that many countries (including Antigua) are lying about their COVID numbers.

Also, it’s just dangerous to get on a commercial airplane right now no matter where you’re flying to.

      • Why do u think that Antigua is lying, and not America with over a million cases. This is why the government of Antigua needs stricter measures for those tourists coming from America.

      • It seems as if Antigua is on the CDC has placed Antigua, Barbados, Grenada , St. Vincent, St. Maarten and many Caribbean countries as also countries like Canada, France etc. I have a group of 60 people bound for Antigua and they are fine with the Island.

    • Nothing much in terms of travel to the island. The CDC has taken the number of increased/decreased cases of CV-19 of each country over the last 28 days. For Antigua, the total to date is what was taken into consideration, not the total active cases.

    • You didn’t read the entire article, you did do any independent checking on the information provided….
      You’re a joke… level 3 is an upgrade from a Global level 4….

      Upp people

  2. Not surprise that Antigua is being placed on level 3. People are not listening and has a general out look of we can do what we want to do.

  3. Cut the crap most of our cases are imported so if they ban their disease infested citizens from our country …..we will be covid free again soon. We should be looking to find another MAIN industry.

  4. I’m sorry folks but this is a classic Trump move in an attempt to stifle anyone who does not dance to his tune. Check the list and you will notice our region has the same risk level and the UK and the rest of the EU. This is a complete overreaction and done as a punishment. I guess we should not be surprised since this is the same man that regards us as being a “shi*thole country”. We need to see this for what it is, the US bully boy tactics of a so called President who failed to protect
his people. Anyone who tries to politicise this amongst our own is a fool. Can’t say I didn’t see it coming though. The last thing Trump wants is our region to prosper. That just won’t do.

  5. Given the current CIVID-19 status in the US it serves the region well if they hold their corner. On the other hand the usual drag down mentality is evident.

    • @Gaston Browne
Shame on you for sinking to the level of trying to impersonate our esteemed PM. From your choice of language to the emptiness of your content, it is clear that you are no where in the class of PM Gaston Browne. Guess we just have to coexist with swamp dwellers like yourself and just accept it as the price we must pay for free speech without borders.

      • Anon the 1st well it was his signature that was first forged and nothing was done. Now he is being impersonated on ANR. In the latter case I do not know what can be done, however, when he indicated the his signature was forged he should have shown more concern and sought justice. I will forever wonder why he did not.

  6. 7. IOMA, your obvious hate for GB renders your contribution useless and nonsensical. Your last sentence should be filed under NOTE TO SELF.

  8. My fellow country men and women. Just take it easy. To tell you the truth, I also want to return to see my granny and dont really business about carnival. But we really need to rid this virus. I’m in New York and that dose of poison hit hard there back in April. Its was no joke. Please people continue to wear the cover_ups. It helps save lives.
