Three officials from a US firm named ZOETIC that specializes in providing clean energy, clean water, and sustainable disposal of waste, have made a proposal to the government.

The team revealed their interest in, and knowledge of, Antigua and Barbuda’s frequent droughts, our purchase of desalinating plants, the landfills used for waste disposal, and other challenges which the island-state faces.

The team promised that it could provide improved systems for providing clean water and energy from our domestic waste.

However, the Cabinet says asked the team to provide more details and more precise costs.

The team will be on Antigua until the weekend and they are scheduled to hold meetings with several government departments on Thursday and Friday.

  1. When Google-ing this company I noticed their experience is mainly with turbines for Hydroelectric applications which A&B does not have any of. So I wonder whether they have sufficient experience in drought affected hurricane prone and seismically active areas. Nowhere on their website do they mention what this article states was presented. Is this a new direction for this company and if so how do they propose to help A&B’s situation? Specifics?

    • Yep, sewage system for St John’s and recycle the water. Nothing new, most the hotels been doing it.

  2. People must remember that in this day and age, everyone with a smart phone can fact-check every claim made by potential investors.
If Antigua wants to convert waste to electricity, then the government should approach companies in Europe which have been doing this for decades and can provide hard data on power generation and needed waste volume. Such companies can also provide information on problems encountered and solutions. These guys sound like they are middle men, peddling someone’s technology.
Antigua should bypass them and go to the source.

  3. Educate then they must
    Demonstrate then if stisfy
    We can engage.

These three simple steps should be the SOP for any project…..

The nation is lacking on SOPs.

  4. Why they do not try and help Flint, Michigan, USA first in providing the with clean water. If it works then they can come to Antigua and implement.
