UPP would welcome establishment of US Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda as fulfillment of its advocacy

 

The United Progressive Party (UPP) takes notice of an announcement made recently by the U.S. State Department that the establishment of two embassies in the Eastern Caribbean was under consideration.

 

During our period in Government, and even when in opposition, we consistently raised with the U.S. authorities our desire to see the return of an embassy to Antigua and Barbuda.

 

Accordingly, the Party welcomes the State Department’s announcement and sees it as good news for the people of the region.  We would welcome, even more, if Antigua and Barbuda is one of the countries chosen for an embassy.

 

“This would save our people the cost of airfare to and from Barbados, as well as the cost of accommodation and other expenses related to the securing of visas, especially at this time when the cost of living is so high,” says Senator Shawn Nicholas, the Party’s Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs.

 

“In short, it would make the entire application process much more efficient and convenient for the people of Antigua and Barbuda,” she says.

    I wonder who are the other UPP spokespersons…no shadow cabinet was named during their campaign…now you hearing about Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs
    The return of the Embassy to Antigua without L.I.A.T 2020 or an efficient regional airline would not serve the Eastern Caribbean Islands well….we can’t think of Antigua selfishly.
    So put your support behind LIAT too…UPP.

  9. While these two parties squabble, there is one thing people are not seeing, the side the US has taken, and they simply don’t want to deal with Antigua, period!!!

    Antigua embarrass the US government and many of its citizens right Infront of the world by harbouring a crook light Allen Sanford to set up shop in Antigua and live like a king, all the while ripping off Americans and pumping the money into the pockets of the corrupt politicians in Antigua.

    You’ll think the US government has forgotten all that?
    So yes they will allow continued travel between the two nations, but to them, Antigua is poisonous to them, just the way cuba, Jamaica and the other nations who have wronged them.

    This is what you’ll are not seeing..so fool yourself if you think American will open another embassy here, it’s not happening.

    Antigua has exhausted it’s resources and have nothing further to offer to the United states, so why would they spend their money on wasted dreams?

    You’ll better think, and come up with better options other than a damn embassy, cause the US doesn’t give a shit about Antigua, period!
