The 12th Biennial Convention of the United Progressive Party (UPP) will feature a week of activities under the theme “Together in Unity: Forward to Victory.”  “Youth Connect,” an initiative designed to inspire, educate and empower the youth, will be held on Thursday 18th April at Freedom Hall, under the theme “The Contributions of Youth Talent to Socio-economic Development.”

Senator Damion Crawford, Shadow Minister of Education and Community Development for the PNP in Jamaica, will deliver the keynote address. A panel of Antiguan and Barbudan experts will address the topic “How is Today’s Economy Affecting the Youth? The Disparity Between Economic Growth and Their Pockets.” The panelists will be Mr. Sowerby Gomes, Technical Director of the ABFA and two entrepreneurs, Hon. Anthony Smith, M.P. and  Tricia Edwards, owner of TKTops.

“Young people play a crucial role in the development of our country. But if our youth face unemployment and lack skills and financing, they cannot actively participate in the economy. It is important to invest in the education and entrepreneurship skills of young people, to harness their potential and ensure that they make a meaningful contribution to our country’s development,” said Hon. Anthony Smith, M.P. for All Saints West.

“The transition of society from one generation to another relies on the youth, making our role in national development extremely critical. By empowering and supporting young people, our country can benefit from our productivity, creativity and energy,” said Lexianne Powell, Chair of Progressive Youth.

“Youth Connect,” is open to the public. It will begin with a networking session at 6pm and the general session will begin at 7pm. There will be a number of activities that will aim to engage the youth and also a performance  by UCG Entertainment.

  1. If you guys do that, that will be awesome nationally and internationally. Not like ABLP that tells youth and innovators that are creating additional industries and revenues in the country they cannot help you, like they have told me.

I believe giving youths and innovators a chance will have significant positive impact on the nation’s economy and crime rate.

  2. Isn’t this just amazing? The UPP’S timing couldn’t be better for this youth initiative.

AT LAST, THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT!

Many many thanks to one and all at the UPP for restoring hope, ambition and most IMPORTANTLY, saving this GREAT country from becoming a one-party state and DICTATORSHIP under the unaccountable and slippery leadership of Gaston Browne.

🎶”IN THE YEAR 2028 … UPP WILL MAKE THIS COUNTRY GREAT…”🎶 (repeat x2)

I love my country more than ANY politician. When we get the right person governing us watch Antigua & Barbuda soar!

Brixtonian patriotic to the bone 🇦🇬
