Delayed Police Response Causes Cancellation of Whistlestop
… While MP Pringle Awaits Questioning

The United Progressive Party (UPP) confirms the cancellation of the Whistlestop and Public Meeting planned for today, December 17, in the All Saints East and St. Luke constituency as, up until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, approval had not been obtained.

The Party’s application had been submitted and was acknowledged by the Police since Friday, December 12. On Tuesday, approval was subsequently received by the General Secretary at 5:08 p.m., after the Party had been forced to abort its plans, due to the lack of time to properly promote the event.

Subsequent information from the Police claimed that approval had been granted on Monday — but not communicated due to the Commissioner’s absence from office. However, the Party’s earlier inquiries into the status of the application had been met with indefinite answers.

Meanwhile, the UPP has been made aware of the Police’s intentions to take in Political Leader Jamale Pringle for questioning in connection with the destruction of APUA materials at Old Road last week.

Given that Prime Minister Gaston Browne has publicly accused MP Pringle of being involved, directly or indirectly, with the act of arson and called on the Police to take him in for questioning, Deputy Political Leader Sherfield Bowen has cautioned officers that detaining MP Pringle would be a dangerous political move.

The Party condemns PM Browne’s abuse of his position and parliamentary privilege to make these unfounded, dangerous, and libelous statements that clearly were intended to damage MP Pringle’s personal reputation and political credibility.

Further, the UPP expresses its deep disappointment in the conduct of House Speaker Osbert Frederick. His failure to apply the relevant Standing Orders allowed PM Browne to shamefully abuse the Leader of the Opposition and bring the House into disrepute — yet again displaying his naked partisanship and disgracing the Speaker’s Chair.

  1. I told y’all to get rid of this man GB asap, but y’all think it’s a joke. The man has been unhinged for years, and when the pressure hits him, he will always regulate to his senile ego.

His most recent attack on our national hero Viv, is just a little bit to how far this man will go when he’s been apposed. This is vindictive politics, no different than the Orange man that he emulates.

Have y’all noticed that since that Orange man has been reelected to office, GB has been emboldened in his pompous Attitude?

This is the danger of having a dictator in office, this is what it looks like.

In the US the constitution is built on granite, so it is hard for people like the orange man to really prevail for too long, but in Antigua, with this fickle constitution we have, people like GB are wide open to become rogue in their concept of leadership and politics.

    This man gots to go,period!!

I have said in the past, the Asot murder wouldn’t be the only one that will be talked about in the near further, and if y’all think I’m just running my mouth, think again.

These type of people (narcissistic bastards) are as dangerous as it gets when their power is threatened.
Even the very followers of this administration speak with same vile as well..you can tell who they are just from the way they reply to any criticism on ANR.

  2. This is good for the people and opposition to have deeper thoughts on Gaston destroying everything, the visa cancellation and using the police and army as his mongoose gang as Eric gearrie did in Grenada, holding barbudans at gun point for their lands now employed against the Antiguan public to stop them from making a daily bread on our beaches which Gaston think white people should make a bread from instead of us black ordinary Antiguan. We are a police state under Gaston, a total state capture.

  3. I doubt he had anything to do with it however He’s the first person the police should have questioned. He had motive, nothing political in that jeez

  4. Will Pringle understand basic questions though?? He is NOT the sharpest tool in the shed. Man Cow will accompany him as per usual?

  5. WHAT THE HELL….! …COMMISSIONER ABSENCE FROM OFFICE? …NEGLECT OF DUTY
SECRETARIAL INNEFFICIENCY…? …WATCH IT ‘COMMISSIONER, EVERTON JEFFERS.’

    ***

    ABSENCE OF COMMISSIONER

One knows that ‘…ANR’ publishes what it receives.

Now, when the news speaks to the ‘…ABSENCE OF THE COMMISSIONER FROM OFFICE,’ such suggests two things:

    ***
ADMINISTRATIVELY: …GROSS NEGLIGENCE – GRAVE INCOMPETENCE

    (i) ‘…GROSS NEGLIGLENCE OR NEGLECT OF DUTY: or

(ii) …GRAVE INCOMPETENCE WITHIN THE ‘…COMMISSIONER’S SECRETARIAT: and

(iii) …A VERY POOR DISPATCH SERVICE.’

    ***

    QUESTION

‘…Are those so assigned to the Secretariat, Saboteurs?’

    ***
TIME TO ‘…WREAK HAVOC’ ON SECRETARIAL INNEFICIENCY.’

    ***

    WHAT THE HELL…!

  6. The UPP is doing what it dies best – gas lighting. Did the Police inform the UPP of their intention to haul Pringle in for questioning? Of course not. But based on this BLATANT LIE, the UPP with its affiliated news outlets have proceeded to announce of the Police intention to officially question Pringle in relation to ongoing unrest in Old Road. Naturally their dunce party base have pounced on the ignorance spewed and printed in ANR and are ready for a bloodthirsty confrontation.
Pringle ought to be hauled in for questioning in relation to events leading to the costly destruction of critcal APUA equipment. He might well have instigated the entire acts of savagery. It is my humble opinion that Pringle should be held criminally and financially responsible for the destruction of the APUA equipment. Is he above the law?

  7. Expert LIARS and specialist in lame attempts at RAGE BAIT. UPP will do anything to evoke sympathy.

Not even that can make them win the next election with an DUNCE LEADER and INCOMPETENT “team mates”

  8. If Mr Pringle is questioned based on baseless accusations from Gaston Brown, yet again it shows Antigua do not have an independent commissioner or police. No independent speaker of the house, is it any wonder Antigua is in such a bad state?

  9. Pringle may not have been involved but we know he know about the incident and maybe even who did it. Mind he don’t snitch and claim the reward
