UPP Salutes Sir Viv on latest accolade  as it celebrates its National Heroes Day

In the tradition adopted since its tenure in office, this year the United Progressive Party (UPP) will salute the Nation’s Heroes on Monday, December 11, since the designated date, December 9, fell on a weekend.

As a mark of respect for the Hon. V.C. Bird, Sr., Father of the Nation, the Baldwin Spencer Administration selected his birthday as the day on which to honour all its heroes: the late Sir Vere; Dame Nellie Robinson, Sir George Walter, and King Court, and its only living hero, Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards.

This year, the UPP takes special pleasure in acknowledging the latest tribute paid to Sir Viv, who capped last year’s award of the Order of CARICOM with the December 1, 2023, unveiling of his image on the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank’s new $2 note.

Accordingly, on behalf of all patriotic nationals and citizens, the UPP reiterates its gratitude to Sir Viv for his elevation of Antigua and Barbuda to the regional and international stages, as an exemplar of not only sporting excellence, but of humility, dignity, service and principle.

No person in the history of Antigua and Barbuda has cast our country in a positive light more than Sir Viv has done – throughout the Commonwealth and beyond – and our people are grateful for the opportunity to recognize and reward him for this.

Congratulations, Sir Viv, the Pride of the Ovals Community; the Antigua Grammar School; the West Indies Cricket Team; and Antigua and Barbuda!

May your days be long and healthy, and may our children emulate your pursuit of excellence and integrity and, like you, find both.

To All Our National Heroes on this your special occasion, SALUTE!

  1. Foolishness. This only shows how Upp is willing to drag anyone and any organization in their little political games. NATIONAL HERO’S DAY was in October and the UPP boycotted the celebrations. Y’all missed the fu”king boat.

    • @ Local Youth

You and Gaston took your medication?

Obviously not since you are not making any sense whatsoever. You must be crazy.

  2. Let me personally join and congratulate our only living hero Sir Vivian Alexander Richard’s for such an esteem accomplishment. However, if it has not been done publicly, it would be nice if Sir Viv could reciprocate with gratitude & acknowledged PM Browne for nominating him as a candidate for such a prestigious award….
Let principle be primary & politics secondary!!

    • It’s official folks, according to ABLP acolytes and Gastonites like @ Bluddy Bloke and Local Youth; nobody must criticise or hold Gaston Browne to account. Ever!

What many of these Gaston worshippers do not realise, that Sir Viv, has gone against the usual narrative of saying nothing and keeping quiet like many of the other lickspittlers and cronies towing the line.

Gaston was hoping that if he shuts down one of our national icons and cricketing superstars, then others in government, power or authority will stay SCHTUM as well.

Gastonite supporters, the SIMPLETONS that keep him in power and want the country to eventually be named after he. 🥸

KEEP ROCKING THE POLITICAL BOAT SIR VIV – ANTIGUANS HAVE YOUR BACK …

      • … We need more brave “self-made” souls to come forward who are not BEHOLDING to Gaston Browne …

I’M QUITE EXCITED AT THIS DEVELOPMENT!

  3. Congratulations too you Sir Vivian A Richard you deserve what ever you get because of you people knew the name of our Beautiful Country ❤️❤️🙏🙏

  4. @Bluddy Bloke,

I guess you have no problem with Gaston Browne attempting to embarrass and degrade our much loved Hero: Sir Vivian.

The mediocre educational system has produced ignorance rather than reason; and the corruption culture is the result.

Even the churches and their organizations are corrupt.
