UPP officials say no resignation letter received from Anthony Smith

The United Progressive Party says up to the time of this publication a letter of resignation from Anthony Smith has not been received by the party.

Smith is rumored to have resigned but the main opposition United Progressive Party says it cannot confirm this having not heard from Smith.

Anthony Smith won the All Saints West seat on a UPP ticket at the last general election.

Prior to the elections Smith strongly denied allegations that he or his representatives were in talks to join the ruling Antigua Barbuda Labour Party.

  6. I would not be surprised if Anthony Smith join ABLP. There is no future for Him with UPP. Anthony is a Business Person and very proactive. UPP does not have future for young persons.

  7. Some people may be keyboard happy to blog, but I see skill or art of deception by the PM, which hints at an imminent election so he is sewing distrusts and disunity in the upp camp, and they gave it flesh by responding about lawsuit, so It creat a public opinion of truthfulness.

  16. How is it that on one hand the UPP candidates are no good and one the other hand they are welcomed in the ALP?

    Make up u all minds is either the UPP have or don’t have the best candidates because it looks like u are coming hard for them to be apart of the Labor Party.

    If a man or woman is not good and have no principals or character then why u want to take he or she away from where they are?

    Mr. Smith is a human being that is free to make his choice, if he chooses the ALP then he has to live with himself and the same if he stays where he is at…

    Sir Viv when he was offered any amount of money to play in South Africa refused on the grounds of his principal and his integrity.

    We are all tested at some point or the other how we rise to that test defines what and who we are.

    I wish Mr. Smith all the best and trust that his decision gives him peace and that having done what he did to the people who voted for him, he can sleep well at nights and his conscience is clear.

  21. Anthony Smith was born in Labour.
    He wanted to contest the Dr MichaelBrowne’s seat and the PM said no. So Anthony went to the UPP and they were so desperate for a candidate they grabbed him up.
    Anthony recognized his mistake and is right back where he belongs.
