UPP Chair Calls for Suspension of West African Air Traffic to Prevent Human Smuggling

REAL NEWS – The chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), D.Gisele Isaac, is concerned about statements made by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who said, last week, that he will not relent in efforts to establish an air bridge between the African continent and Antigua and Barbuda.

Isaac’s worries are the result of the debacle involving the now- defunct Antigua Airways flight, as well as the recent Air Peace charter, on which a number of West African visitors reportedly refused to leave the State claiming they had paid an ambassador US$1,000 for their stay.

Isaac says it would be unwise to continue this venture until certain procedures and mechanisms are revised – in order to prevent these visitors from trying to smuggle themselves into other countries.

She says it would not be fair for Antigua and Barbuda to bring in persons whose only desire is to travel onward to other countries seeking refugee status.

Isaac says we should not put ourselves in a position to facilitate human trafficking or smuggling.

The UPP chairman says the Browne Administration has made no apparent effort to stop the smuggling following the departure of the West Africans who arrived here late last year.

Nearly all have been smuggled to US territories and some lost their lives while attempting to join their countrymen.

Isaac says these instances of smuggling have been taking place for too long and too often for the Administration not to have a clue about what is taking place.

  1. Still waiting for even ONE idea from this woman that would bring positive development to Antigua and Barbuda, just one.

    • Don’t you like strong educated Antiguan women @ Aloenso?

So if the Honourable D. Gisele Isaacs cannot come up with “ONE idea” as you put it, then why have you given Gassssston Browne a free pass after TWO terms and six months of UNDERDEVELOPMENT and promises?

YOU ABLP MISOGYNISTS ARE SOMETHING ELSE – ARE YOU RELATED TO LIONEL HURST (WHO ALSO DISLIKES STRONG WOMEN) BY ANY CHANCE?

3 `chairwoman’ In the past, chairman was used to refer to both men and women, but it is now not often used to refer to a woman. The woman in charge of a meeting or organization is sometimes referred to as the chairwoman. Margaret Downes is this year’s chairwoman of the Irish Institute.

    • Always good to read your OUT OF CONTEXT posts again @ From The Sideline.

If you hadn’t noticed, D Gisele Isaacs was actually talking about the suspension of West African Air Traffic, to halt the possibility of human smuggling.

Oh, by the way, how’s your ongoing treatment for DUNNING-KRUGER symptoms going?

  3. Antiguans should be in no doubt, the PM is a functional crazy and reckless man. He has perpetually compromised our reputation, more especially by jumping into bed with fraudulent Nigerians.

I can’t help wondering what spiritual hold they have on him and have they charmed him?

Nigerians have grotesque reputation for dabbling in juju, obeah to us. The failures of Antigua Airways blew up in his face and less than eight months he has committed Antigua to another venture.

Again, some Nigerians that recently came to Antigua have alleged that they paid the Ambassador bribe money.

The Nigerian minister responsible for avation has an outstanding court hearing for fraudulent activities and the PM and other member from his corrupt administration have boldly announced they have made progress with linking travel between the two countries. Why does this PM is determined to do business with a rogue country?

Antiguans are clear that at the very least, passengers travelling from Nigeria will be coming as asylum seekers at the very least, and at the very worse money or drugs trafficking or both. However, what we don’t know is what would be going back to Nigeria…

If the PM has been charmed then nation should pray for him, alternatively his psychiatrist needs to increase his medication dosage. He has continously presented himself as someone who is unhinged and dangerous.

    • Here here @ Antigua4ever.

Our Prime Minister is not only “unhinged and dangerous”, but you begin to wonder what is going to go wrong with him next.

I presume his cabinet members and advisors are educated, but they seem absolutely afraid to tell him that some of his ideas just aren’t beneficial to the country.

All Gaston’s harebrained and ill-judged schemes are making the ABLP ridiculous … if that’s at all possible!
