Above Normal Rainfall Expected for Antigua for 2024

1

Antigua is expected to experience a wetter-than-usual year in 2024, with rainfall likely to be among the wettest on record.

Forecasts predict around 1524 mm (60.0 in) of rain, with a 70% chance of being between 1212 to 1886 mm (48 to 74 in).

There’s an 82% probability of above-normal rainfall and a 51% chance of it being in the top 10 percentile of all rainfall records since 1928. Potential impacts include flash flooding, infrastructure damage, and public health risks.

The forecast is driven by warmer-than-normal sea surface temperatures and a La Niña event.
